I've been waiting on this... When some of these studs decide to stay home, we really turn the corner.

I think that these 4 and 5* kids are still "digesting" our 10-3 season along with a bowl win. Lot to take in. IF we win consistently 7 to 8 games a year for the next couple of years, the future 4 & 5* kids will not have to digest this and will be an easier decision to make!

They are also trying to figure out how long fuente is gonna be here. Because the bigger schools are telling them don't come here because fuente will be gone soon and it will be back to business as usual.

Getting stud 4 & 5 ☆ talent to stay home would yield more victories, based on what Coach Fu has done with less...The Fuente regime has taken over, the staff will be seasoned and efficient in the event that we don't get an invite & Fuente darts for a dream job....there will be a replacement waiting in the wings, that is fully capable of continuing this height of success. ... 03-idea

I hope your right on the replacement continuing the height of success.

On another note, calling TC, Cane do you know why CJF contract ended up with a very small buyout?

Much to the "bigger schools" regret, it's never going to be "back to business as usual". UofM has learned it's lesson well about the fallacy of neglecting football in favor of basketball and our supporters are re-doubling their efforts after tasting success. The same determined and very capable people who hired Dr. Rudd, Tom Bowen and Coach Fuente will be selecting the next coach if/when that becomes necessary.

I agree 100%!!! Going forward it's all about football, throw the money and focus, that's the future of getting into a P5 conference, not basketball.

My guess is attendance will make a rather dramatic jump UP this year. That will bode well for the program.

I don't see that happening. A nice little bump maybe. There is just a large segment of Memphis sports fans that are not going to go to games unless the ticket is free.

I'm sure they will do something again like the concert series before the home games. I hope they offer $5.00 tickets for every game minus the Ole Miss game. That way the casual fan will continue to give our brand a look. I much rather see 45,000 fans with a few thousand discount tickets than 28,000 that paid full price. I have a feeling we will be picked to finish in the top 2 of the AAC west so we will get better times for tv games. My ONLY hope is we don't play home games on a Thursday or Friday night. It will also help if it does not rain almost every damn home game next year!!!That kills us!!! Recruiting wise, we will see in a few weeks if the big year this year for the Tigers pays off with a surprise recruit or 2 come signing day. It might take another year or 2 of good football to see a big bump in recruiting or more people at the game.

$5 tickets do not build the fan base. Once a season for the worst seats is OK but every game erodes the value of the ticket. Doing it every game creates coupon mentality and shows no loyalty to long-standing, loyal season ticket holders.

We responded to a free-fall. Now we need to pay attention to establishing value and revenue.

Ask yourself is a $5 ticket big time?

No......$5 is not big time, BUT neither is playing in front of 30,000 people. Selling about 7,500 endzone $5 tickets helps fill the Liberty Bowl. Nothing wrong with it until the Tigers can have continued success on the field.

Depends on your goal. $5 Kroger ticket fans make the stands look a littl better but they bring little value or permanence.

We can agree to disagree.

It's simple supply and demand. Until we reduce ticket availability to something close to demand, ticket value will suffer. We need to tarp the areas above the 2nd portals and reduce seating to 40-45K. People will then be afraid of getting left out and wil be more willing to pay for a season ticket or commit to paying a higher price earlier for a single-game ticket. Once people have committed to the ticket, they will be more willing to actually go to the game, even when the weather is questionable.

Some may say that tarps are bush league, but so is playing before a half-empty stadium, of even less just because the weather isnt optimal. You can even sell advertising on the tarps to generate add'l revenue, so it's a win-win.

I live out of town aelknd due to youth sports, I am never quite sure when I can make it to games (usually make 2-3 a year). But, there is nothing pushing me to buy tickets because I KNOW that I can ALWAYS get a ticket, often times for $5 on the street because there is such a surplus supply. Now, if capacity was reduced to 40-45K, I would be concerned that I might not be able to easily score a last-minute ticket and would be forced to commit sooner and pay whatever is necessary.

With last year's success increasing demand, this is the perfect time to reduce the supply and increase the value of tickets.

No......$5 is not big time, BUT neither is playing in front of 30,000 people. Selling about 7,500 endzone $5 tickets helps fill the Liberty Bowl. Nothing wrong with it until the Tigers can have continued success on the field.

Dude give the poor man a break. Let him have a 5 or 10 buck ticket. Everybody in this city don't have high wage jobs like you and me. If enough people buy season tickets there would be no 5 buck ticket. Until we sell out with season tickets give it a rest. There is always room for a guy or girl with 5 bucks to spare.
Just my opinion.

Even some season ticket holders won't come when the weather is bad or just predicted to be bad. I've seen them. You have no control over this.
