Returning starters and depth
Read the Chimp forum and one of the slappies said, "They're not that young, particularly in the two deep." We lose 5 starters. We lose two starters who are serious impact players (Currie, Celeskar). We lose three starters whose backups have shown themselves to already be solid players.

Anyway, I looked into it. Actually, WE ARE THAT YOUNG, and even younger when you look at the two deep.

QB- Soph- Returns
RB- Fr- Returns
RT- Soph- Returns
C- Sr.
LT- Jr.- Returns
LG- Jr.- Returns
RG- Sr.
WRs- Soph, Soph, FR, FR, JR.- All return

DE- (we rotate 5) Jr.,FR, Soph, FR, Soph (McKinney, Turner, Adams, Braster, Simpkins)- All Return

DT- (start 2, rotate 2) Sr. Jr. Fr. Soph (Ash, Smith, Matich, Curle, ) Return 3
LB- Jr. FR, Sr. (Lewis should be considered a returning starter med RS, also a Soph)- Return 2, and 3 if you factor in Lewis

DB- Sr, Sr. Jr. Jr. - 2 Return
---------------------------------------
Key losses- Celeskar, Currie, Ash, Ishmail, Hoffing, Rodreiguz
---------------------------------------
Replacement
Deonte Brown for Celeskar
Asante Brown for Currie
Matich for Ash
Doyle for Hoffing (could also be true freshmen Keenoy)
Taylor Moten moves to RG to take Rodriguez spot
Okafor to RT taking Moten's spot (they did this several times this year)
-----------------------------------------
Okafor, Deonte Brown, and Moten at guard, could actually be an upgrade. Celeskar will get NFL looks. Deonte Brown may be better.
-----------------------------------------
True Freshmen, RS freshmen impact players

Junior McMullen LB
Kenny Findley DT (If he is enrolled in Jan.)
Leo Ekwode RB
-----------------------------------------
Areas of strong depth

QB- Terrell, Stewart, Thomas, Wassink. There may be SEVERAL back ups who have more upside than many MAC starters.
WR- Five solid starters, with at least three quality back ups. EXTREME DEPTH
RB- While they haven't seen the field, the back ups and incoming freshmen have impressive resumes and a many offers.
OL- Could be the deepest position. Doyle, Day, Noveleski, and Bass (if healthy). Elliot Jordan could be very good as well. Size, length, good feet. Keenoy could very well start.
LB- Return of Austin Lewis, Devon Brandt, Jekevin Jackson, and Jayson Sylva (all injured), with the addition of Junior McMullen. Should be an upgrade from this year.
DE- Turner, Adams, Simpkins, McKinney, Braster. VERY DEEP
DT- Matich, Curle, Smith. I could see Simpkins going back to DT, and Devonte Lee (if he gets out of the dog house) adding lbs. and moving to the middle. Kenny Findley could also add depth.
DB- Atkins, Zamort, Deonte Brown, Asante Brown. Solid skills, decent experience, but not a ton of depth on this unit. I think Deonte Brown has All MAC potential.
Stone, Ferguson, and Stone Davis should add depth, but the jury is out until they get on the field.
-------------------------------------------------

Kickers, punter, and return people all return.

Special teams (coverage) was very young, and was very solid by the end of the year.

Fleck may add one or two 5th year seniors who can play immediately.

Expect one or two freshmen to have an impact. McMullen would be my bet, but it always seems to be someone you didn't expect.

Looks like Finley is enrolled:

So is Jacari Faulkner:

Also, Dip didn't even mention that we are still about a dozen scholarships short of having a maxed out roster. Not only do we bring nearly everyone back, we'll bring in another full class of about 25 freshmen... again.

Which guys have a shot for the NFL? I haven't seen many of WMU games, but have always been impressed with Currie.

Currie and Celiscar are probably the only ones with a shot at the NFL.

Curious the status of Rolle. Wasn't he playing before the incident? Back in the boat next year?

Yep almost everyone is coming back on offense besides center. On defense 1 CB and a SS. We will be better next year with more depth!

Deonte Brown looks very good. Might not lose much a ton at DB if he plays well.

We'll suddenly have a lot of depth at LBer as well.

Andre Turner and Darius Phillips redshirted last year and both have been great additions. I suspect one of two of the redshirts from this years group will be solid contributors next year.

I agree, Deontae Brown has looked excellent in the very little amount of PT he's been getting.

Asantay Brown is going to be a good one for us too, Stone-Davis might step in, and we don't even have an idea what Antione Stone (who had about 8 other MAC offers coming out of H.S.) is capable of yet.

Or Ferguson the ND transfer who they moved to DB.

Other than the two Browns, who I've seen play, it's just a guess on the others. But most of them had quality offers, so I'd assume they're not hidden gems. Seabury has a claimed 4.3, and Ferguson was a four star athlete. Converted WRs like Ferguson don't always have great hips, but they know routes and have good hands. London Fryar was a converted WR, and he ended up leading the MAC in interceptions.

Michael Henry played well in limited minutes. He could see the field a little more next year. Billingslea could be a surprise as well, although he'll have a hard time getting on the field. Supposed to be a very precise route running. Would add some depth on crossing routes and bubble screens.

RE: Returning starters and depth
I saw Billingslea play in person a couple of times last year. Wow is all I can say. His routes are so crisp. Precise cuts, and he is slick when he does it.

Him and Ray Buford were going at it at a WMU camp last year, and he was getting the best of Buford every single snap, making him look just silly. And Buford is a stud. If you didn't know, Buford is committed to the 18th ranked team in country right now (Minnesota).

I'm excited to see if Billingslea finds himself a role on the team next year. He's got a high ceiling.

This is my roster that I try to keep updated. We have 10 scholarships open if Rolle and Lee don't come back. That added to the 10 seniors we have, that leaves 20 spots available. I have a count of 28 guys that are either verballed or ready to enroll in January.

Obviously some guys will transfer and some guys probably wont get a fifth year like Quinn, Aurand, John Jackson, Keith, possibly Brant.

Antoine Stone was getting a ton of reps early in fall practice. He seems to me like a guy that could step in next year for Celiscar.
