Did you see my post regarding Robinson of Univ. of Texas being a candidate?

Yes but I knew that long before you posted it...

I personally think it's gonna be Frank Wilson or Neal brown

Frank Wilson is highly saught after. And is an assisoiate HC at LSU.... Both are paid over 650k at LSU and UK. Which means the new Troy coach wiould most likely be the top 3 highest paid in the sbc.

I still say Neal Brown is your best choice available. I think Beamer and Wilson would be duds. Gran might be in a similar boat.

I'm told Frank would be as good a hire as Brown possibly better. But both would likely be good for our program.

Frank Wilson would be like a CEO type head coach... Would likely hire great assistants.

It's highly likely that when they are interviewed they are also asked who their potential staff would be if they get the job. Very nice candidate pool, but at this point all that is likely left are the formalities. Of course things have fallen apart in this type of stuff in the 11th hour as well.

I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I would go with Brown over Wilson in a heartbeat. I saw the current UCA coach as a candidate but the old UCA coach would be a better hire. He has baggage but would have Troy competing again right away.

That's your typical big school bias out of their fans.

"Why would he take that job? Its a step down"

"If he goes I'd love to make a run at Coach X out of Z School"

"I really hope he takes that job, he's been terrible here."

True...They think we cant pay for him just because Larry only made 505k....

Budgets change lol

I dont think hes been terrible there. It is UK after all. They have been putting up Big offensive numbers for the most part there, especilly this year. And if they beat Louisville they will be bowling for the first time since when? lol

He also had the #6 passing offense in the country at Texas Tech

And #3 offense in 2009 at TROY.

Love this post....

"Brown had the #3 overall offense in the country his 2nd year at Troy and 3 straight top 15 offenses as OC at TX Tech. I have been frustrated with his playcalling and gameplans this year (no identity, but youth problems), but let's not make up facts to downplay his accomplishments at Troy and TX Tech."

Frank Wilson would be like a CEO type head coach... Would likely hire great assistants.

...which is highly inefficient for smaller schools. We should hire Brown then, he could be HC and OC while another position coach could be Co-OC. This would free more money for a new DC.

I actually dont like that idea....HC should be HC and thats it...Its difficult to be a HC and be OC.

Apparently Frank wilson turned down the La Tech and USM jobs a couple years ago

Was also asked to be Ole Miss OC under Freeze but also turned that down

Frank is paid 650k at LSU

LSU boards overwhelmingly like Frank Wilson. One poster stated if he wins 7-9 games consistently at Troy they would want him back as their HC if miles leaves

Neal Brown for 3.5 million over 5 years......former OC 08-09 retaining 3 coaches...quarterback coach Reagan, OC Edenfield although suspect a change of sorts....and Assistant HC and special teams Shane Wadsden...

think it will be a good fit....
