Best case is we up his pay to 2-3 million and no major programs approach him at this time. I don't see him leaving to go build at a Kansas type job. However, if Nebraska or SEC comes calling, we might be in trouble.
That is very true. But money alone does not determine what is best for a family.

I don't know why anyone needs more than 2-3 million a year to support their family.
He just said it'd take something special. I don't think when he said special it meant money.
I'm guessing it's take something like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M etc..
Special being close to home, in an area he is from with the pay.
My 2 cents anyway.

SNF6,
I follow this place fairly closely and have for years. You seem to be a fellow who's somewhat connected to the football team. Did you grow up in the South and follow the Tigers? Just curious.
Everything is good, and everything is going to get even better. We are no longer "Dreamers", we are making it happen. Our new administration is remarkable; our notable alumni and boosters are no longer willing to accept mediocrity.
Our current administration is working from the bottom up; diligent with freshman and giving an amazing amount of support to older students who wish to complete degrees. This is huge, we need our graduation rates to sky rocket. Dr. Rudd is going to transform this university into a feature institution. He has been given a great amount of the resources to do so, you just may not see them out in the open.
This school, and especially football, has been left behind in too many ways over decades. It takes time, resources, a bit of luck, and timing to build an institution that other conferences desire. We have done so much in a short period of time.
We have the people in place to take Memphis to great places. This is not Dr. Carpenters Memphis, I can assure you of that. GTG!
I recall that time well. Carpenter was clueless.
Oh God. I was a party of a high roller during that time and both Carpenter and Cavagnaro were there. Tried talking to Charlie and while trying to be congenial, he was not very.....conversational.
When Justin came here he had to know he was looking at a five year time frame to get this program back to zero out from the hole and to where he expected it to reach. Looking at how close a couple of our losses were and who they were to, he has to think his work isn't done yet. I said this in another thread, but $2-3 million here is as good as it is at somewhere like TCU. And in this conference I can seriously see us becoming the next TCU/Boise under Fuente.
Charlie C's wife cleared out the slappy bus in Hattiesburg in 1992.
