Rabbi goes to Vatican. Meets Pope. Gives speech.
The full video takes about 31 minutes, so not everyone will have the time. But it's worth your time if you can possibly spare it.

Transcript, video highlights and full speech:

just the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQzt6gGwvJQ

Some quotes that stood out to me…

"Education is the conversation between the generations, and the first school is the home."

"Science takes things apart to see how they work. Religion puts things together to see what they mean."

"Almost everything that marriage once brought together has now been split apart. So sex has been divorced from love. Love has been separated from commitment. Commitment from marriage. Marriage from having children. And having children from responsibility for their care."

"It will go down in history -- the Western abandonment of marriage -- as one of the tragic instances of what Friedrich Hayek called 'the fatal conceit' that somehow, we know better than the wisdom of the ages, and can defy the lessons of biology and history."

It's funnier when they meet in a bar. I didn't laugh at all at these points.

The rabbi actually had a few good jokes in the speech, too. One was about sex.

Thank you for posting this. When we look for conceit in our society in America, we can see it in abundance from both sides: left and right.

However, it currently appears to be the left that is most consistently at odds with the rabbi's quotes on these fundamental truths. The right has its arrogance and missteps, no doubt, but the left is bent on the society's full and complete (and eventually even its own very) destruction.
