MAC Announces CMU Reprimand
MAC ANNOUNCES PUBLIC REPRIMAND TO CENTRAL MICHIGAN CAPTAINS

For Immediate Release--Monday, Nov. 24, 2014

Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced today it has issued a public reprimand to four Central Michigan team captains for actions during the pre-game coin toss in last Saturday’s home game vs. Western Michigan.

The four Central Michigan captains are wide receiver Titus Davis, linebacker Justin Cherocci, offensive lineman Andy Phillips and defensive tackle Leterrius Walton.

The Central Michigan captains refused to shake hands during the coin toss with Western Michigan team captains, in addition the MAC endorses the institution’s decision to remove them from serving as team captains in the future.

“The MAC has determined that the actions of the Central Michigan captains, in intentionally failing to shake hands of the captains from Western Michigan during the pre-game coin toss constituted a violation of the Conference sportsmanship policy,” said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher.

“Sportsmanship is among the core values of intercollegiate athletics and a value reinforced by members of the Mid-American Conference. While the pre-game handshake is a simple gesture, it is one that is symbolic of the ethics and traditions of the game. Team captains are expected to demonstrate leadership and have a responsibility to pattern behavior that exemplifies the very best values of the team and institution they represent,” added Steinbrecher.

RE: MAC Announces CMU Reprimand
Hey MAC office, that doesn't do a whole lot to change anyone's opinion on their program. Wanna talk reprimand? I heard The MAC has a tie in with that bowl game in Idaho. Or better yet, I heard Ohio U would become bowl eligible if they win their game against the Miami Red Guys.

MAC Announces CMU Reprimand
"Due to CMU's lack of sportsmanship, the MAC office will do everything in its power to keep Toledo out of a bowl game for the second straight year, as punishment."

"In addition, if Toledo does qualify for a share of the MAC West Division title, they will not be officially recognized, will not be able to display a banner to that effect, and must forfeit the MACC game should they be the West Division representative."

The old Big East. We could compete with them. Is it called the American Athletic Conference now? Beat Pitt, syracuse,Temple who else? From what I hear they don't want us. Anyone else have a different take on that?

Pitt is in the ACC.

Syracuse is in the ACC as well, plus Toledo never "officially" beat Syracuse.

Correct on Temple, they are in the AAC.

RE: MAC Announces CMU Reprimand
I really dislike CMU - so I'm glad to see this regardless of how trivial it is overall and does not impact Toledo in any way. I have never felt that team or it's fans have shown much class over the years. Not as bad as Marshall, but IMO, not that far behind either. Probably more the drunk students than anything. They act like alcohol will never be brewed or distilled again after game day.
