Statement from Jimmy Filler - Executive Director UAB Football Foundation 11.2...
Creating a difficult front for the BOT to face. Success on the football field that we haven't seen in years, support in the stands, support in the business community to the tune of millions of dollars per year. So just how exactly will the BOT try to justify their evil?

If we survive this battle we need to name the practice facility after Jimmy and the others leading this fight behind the scenes.

Can we get that $4 Million in writing with a contract waiting for Watts to sign? That would be the most damning thing in this entire debacle if we can document President Watts turning down big-time free money.

A signed pledge with personal guarantee by the Foundation would definitely reinforce the commitment.

Unfortunately, in these parts, they don't have to justify their evil, they are that arrogant and self-centered. Tim Brando and Scarbo really let them have it on national radio this morning.

What they are going to say (if this is moving as we think it is) is that they had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT (Say that as Sgt Schultz) and everything was done by UAB's leadership (ignoring that they chose that leader).

The only unforeseen consequence that would cause them grief would be a SACS probation against the Crimson Tide FB program that they were barred from post season play for some number of years. If they could not somehow blame that on Gene Bartow &/or UAB, it would really toast their reputation.

Again, SACS cannot put anyone's football program on probation. Why on earth do you think this? Do you know what SACS is?

SACS probation is way worse than NCAA probation. Th ey would be a step away from annihilation.

Here's and interesting article with some commentary on LSU and Auburn's situations and worries with SACS in the past.

RE: Statement from Jimmy Filler - Executive Director UAB Football Foundation 11.25.14
This is why he keeps harping on it. I think he is hitting at the long term issue that is far more significant that football

"Losing accreditation could mean that LSU would lose federal funding. Students would become ineligible for federal financial aid. Students graduating from LSU might not be able to gain admission other graduate schools. The university’s reputation would be ruined. Faculty recruiting would be severely hampered, if not permanently crippled."

Extend that to the UA system. Since it would probably be a systemwide issue, UAT grads couldn't get in grad schools, Could go to no law schools other than UAT, could go to no MBA program but Culverhouse. When they got out, in all probability they wouldn't be able to get a job anywhere but in a firm run by a UAT grad. Educators couldn't be certified to teach because they graduated from an unaccredited school. AT UAB, gazillions of medical research dollars would be pulled and the SOM would become a giant sucking sound draining the University Systems resources. At UAH all that NASA and DOD research-probably off to another accredited school. All the schools would have a hard time hiring faculty.

If these peckerwoods shut down football and don't take SACS seriously it could be the ultimate payback.

This is all providing that this goes beyond probation and the accreditation is pulled. There is nothing that makes me think the BOT would think they couldn't BS their way through this like they do everything else.

Are institutions that lose their accreditation allowed to be members of the NCAA?

Justin said that they were working on setting up a site where you could make donations.

I imagine it would have details of what the foundation is, etc.
