No....just no. 01-wingedeagle

A loss may have meant that Levine would have been let go of for sure and no one would have an issue with it as UH would look to bring in a stud HC or up-and-comer.

Right... But it's difficult to shutdown a team who IMO is only misfiring and has has no direction this season.

That's true. Also, it goes to show how inept the majority of this coaching staff is.

You know, perhaps Levine isn't the problem, if he could surround himself with a proven OC things will improve a lot in the W section and inappropriate Houston comments of him wouldn't be as bad.

I think Levine CAN be successful with a great OC and a great DC. I do not believe Levine has shown he has the ability to select either on a consistent basis (in fact, he shown just the opposite).

I think Houston would be better off with a candidate who actually brings something to the table beyond special teams expertise who has already proven the ability to be a successful FBS head coach. In terms of growing into the job, the fans have tired of Levines very slow learning curve. He seems to be making the same mistakes over and over. I think we need a guy who has already been a successful head coach at the FBS level or higher.

Willie Fritz would be the type of guy I would look at. Dino Babers at Bowling Green and Rod Carey at NIU are also interesting possibilities. All 3 make less than 450K and are solid, competent, successful FBS head coaches that Houston could probably afford to hire. All 3 would have to consider taking over a program with great facilities, solid talent in place, with good TV exposure, where they would receive BIG raises in the process. Babers and Fritz are both from Texas---so it would also offer the opportunity to get back close to home where most of their recruiting connections exist. Wade Phillips would be one other candidate who is intriguing. He lives in Houston (just built a new home there), played for UH, and has been a head coach in the NFL for both Texas NFL franchises (Cowboys and Texans). He is well known in the state and would likely be able to recruit well and assemble a highly competent staff. He would probably be the best "splash hire" name available.

You hit a few interesting points, Attackcoog

Our biggest need and our only need right now, IMO, is a real true QB... We get one, Levine and Bush almost emedietly look brilliant.

Our biggest need is an OC capable of devising an FBS-level passing attack, and a QB coach capable of teaching said system. Until that happens nothing else matters.

Beggars can't be choosers so us UH fans should be happy with any win that we can get during this crazy season. It turned out to be a perfect day for college football, with the stadium about 40% filled with UH fans. SMU may be down this year, but there's no denying that they have a very nice stadium and some great looking women on their campus. It's always worth the 4 hour drive up I-45.

RE: Houston vs Southern Methodist discussion
The offensive side of UH these days is a huge cluster****. Its sad seeing how poorly coached we really are on offense. Its almost unbelievable to watch our players get no instruction on the sidelines between series on offense. I look down the bench and when the defense is on the sidelines Gibbs is using a whiteboard to instruct and show our defense and try and make adjustments on what the offense is doing.

The not going for a field goal at the half might have been the dumbest decision I have ever seen in a college football game.
