Someone explain. I'm open.

there are several here that enjoy the losses more than the wins....k

It's Ok with me, but they really paint themselves into a corner of no possible enjoyment, and it's only the beginning of the season.

There's going to be much butthurt again this year due to the success. Happens every year.

A win is a win, but a win over prairie view whatever does less for me than a win over Baylor would.

No one is saying this erases the second half of Wichita St, but this is the best result in the circumstances. Can we at least enjoy the win?

There was no way to be impressive in winning here against PV-A&M , the only positive result we could get was a win. We got the win.

Not sure what the issue is here.

It's simple, actually.

Hoopsdreams and others who CLEARLY dislike Pastner simply cannot "enjoy the win" as you mentioned above. More importantly, they cannot permit others to enjoy it. Not even right after the 28 point win. Not on this MEMPHIS message board.

The constant sniping and belittling of anything positive for TIGER basketball - like tonight's win - is just more evidence that some fans here truly don't like Pastner.

Sad. This is why I don't post as much. It's why others don't post as much.

1 & 1 and on to Las Vegas for Baylor.

RE: Top 2 players for PV were out
If we always project ahead to the next game, there will never be a time that a win is enjoyed for itself/by itself...unless it's the championship.

By those standards, only one group of fans out of all College BB ever gets to enjoy a win.

Those ain't my standards and I'm glad...just saying.

We won. We have more info on what is going to work for the whole season which means the trend is good. Vegas is Thursday. I'll be there.

There are some that have always been bent on seeing pastner go. You'd have to query the as to why they believe that. But some of them want it sooooooooo badly that they are ok with the team sucking in order to facilitate the process. We lose to Wichita st, and they seize the moment. So imagine their shagrin when the team gets votes in the top 25 poll and then the team goes out and destroys a team by double that which Baylor did, and by a larger margin that Oklahoma state. It is what it is.

I'm happy with the win. But I'd still like to see Pastner go.

Nothing personal.

Actually, it is personal with small collection of posters here.

Its becomes blatantly obvious when they troll the board following a 28 point win.

These people are NOT tiger fans.

lol Without getting overly psychological...I think Pastner doesn't embody what some perceive as a strong male, i.e. someone who protects them from harm. Hah. Now I've stepped in it.

(Just put me on ignore....lol)

That's true. This "hate" thing is a very strong word. Pastner is a great guy. He's just not cut out to lead memphis to a national championship. Or even the sweet 16 at this point.

I would definitely wish him well in future endeavors.

If people who aren't tiger fans are posting on this board just to rile up posters, ha, well that's basically just pathetic.

Once again, I gotta ask...how do you combine wanting Pastner to fail with wanting the team to win.

That could be true but no one is buying out his contract in the near future.

We also won handily tonight. Could we suck later? Yes, but we handled business tonight. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thats the whole premise of what everyone has been talking about for weeks. Many people like myself feel like we have a coach who has reached his ceiling, and will only go so far regardless of who's on our team.

This is what apathy looks like.

Does it mean we don't want the team to do well? Of course not. We're just not expecting it.

I agree with other posters that say last night was a lose lose proposition, but we took care of business and move on.

I saw some good things last night. I liked how Pookie seemed to settle down in the second half. Made some nice attempts on some ally oops. I liked how they pushed the pace and shared the ball. Too many turnovers but I'm not too worried about that. They're learning how to play with each other right now. The coach too.

I just hope Coach has learned how to give these guys some rope early in the season to let them build some confidence. They're going to F up a lot right now and I hope he doesn't yank them after every mistake they make.

I never brought up "hate", newbie.

You did. A Freudian slip, perhaps? Or is that your true feeling inadvertently exposing itself?

All the other buzz words are in your response, too. Bad basketball coach. Mediocrity. Can do better.

Translation - Pastner has failed to emulate Fredo's last four seasons at MEMPHIS so we think he should be fired.

No worries, you ain't got long to wait. Baylor is next up and you and your ilk can covertly hope for a Bear victory to unleash more vitriol to our coach. If MEMPHIS wins, you will still find complaints with Pastner and the team. Great fun, huh?
