Honest Question to GSU
Fritz just put himself out there for the taking. What's the plan to hold on to him or find a quality replacement? Not a trash talk thread. Honest concern.

RE: Honest Question to GSU
it is a concern and something GS may not have an answer for IF a school with deep pockets comes calling. The Kansas connection is worrisome, but I hope they are looking at other options (higher profile). I know Fritz will leave sooner than most would like, but that is life. Either the coach isn't cutting it and he is gone or is doing great and leaves. There is talk of a couple options in case he leaves (move OC to HC or get lucky on the coaching carousel).
I'm sure our A.D. is working on securing additional funds to keep the staff together. He seems to be very proactive in that regard and will do his best to counter any offers.

I thought the poster was referring to how well the team has done in it's 1st year in the FBS and getting some recognition for it. Thus putting the HC in the spotlight for any teams looking to replace theirs.

I was actually kind of hoping us getting smacked down at navy would prevent that from happening this year. lol

Honest Question to GSU
Since the perception of the SBC is low, and the only wins we have are vs SBC competition and Sav St, I doubt he goes this year. If he turns heads next season again then they may come calling.

Yeah, I think since it has just been one year combined with that egg laid at Navy, the perception of the conference, no bowl chance to back up the regular season and his age he has a lot of folks still ahead of him. If he pull this off again next year he is probably going to at least on everyone's short list especially if we do well against both WVU and thUGA.

If you guys had taken 1 or both of your ACC games I'd say Fritz is a goner at the end of the season without much doubt. You might keep him for next year now given the overall out of conference performance.
This makes me thankful that Satterfield is a former player, coach. It would take a pretty spectacular opportunity to lure him away from Boon.e

or a 400k pay bump. I'm sure he loves app dearly, but you would be a fool to think he would stay if offered a large amount of money to leave.
but luckily he is a very young coach and did abysmal last year, and got off to a slow start this year. I would think it would be another 2 years before he is a "proven" head coach, so to speak.
Fritz has been winning, albeit lower divisions, his entire career, so he has that on his resume.

Of course, as of today, Fritz would go to ten P5 schools before Sattefield would get a call.
I wouldn't begin to speculate the exact number that would trump Satterfield's loyalty though, and I sure as hell won't defer to a Georgia Southern fan to do so. Satt is homegrown (to a fault in most people's opinion before we started winning). We'll see how much money he turns down if/when they come acallin'
Fritz would leave Statesboro in a nanosecond if the opportunity/price was right.

Monken won national titles at Georgia Southern and we gave him his first big break. He was gone on the first offer that had 7 digits. I realize that the ties aren't near as strong, but the almighty dollar still decides where coaches go.

It would take a lot for Satterfield to leave. Satterfield, literally, had to be forced out of Boone, to take FBS assistant jobs. I think to prepare him for his eventual return. Although, officially, he wasn't the "coach in waiting". Unofficially, the official statement is hogwash.

Rest assured that Satterfield would leave App State in that same nanosecond of time if he had the right deal too. Don't be fooled into thinking that being a former player has anything to do with it. For the same money? Yes, he would stay, but for three to four times his current salary - he gone!

if a lower level sec or acc team came a callin with a 7 figure paycheck, he would be booking his plane before he got off the phone.

Loyalty is a 2 way street. Satterfield knows things can turn on a dime and they would be calling for his head. So at the end of the day he has to take the money if a good offer came. He also has to consider his staff and their financial situation.

I'm referring to the success they had this season. Many who wouldn't know who GSU is do now. When programs come out of no where their coaches get snatch up by other programs with more money hoping to have the same success.

RE: Honest Question to GSU
Unlike the previous administration that only gave lip service to conducting a national search, the current administration at GS really did that and had some outstanding candidates, of which they picked Fritz. I have no doubt they would get the hire right if they had to do it again soon.
Heck, you never know... I never envisioned Fritz coming in and having the success in both recruiting last February and on the field during the season he's had.
The other thing is that coaching is a double edged sword at this level... you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Win big and your coach gets poached, lose and nobody wants your coach- including you. What Troy had with Blakeney and App had with Moore is rare indeed these days.
