Virginia Tech and Virginia are two ACC schools who might be looking for coaches after the season. Both have been underachieving for 3 or 4 consecutive years and fans are starting to grumble.
In my opinion I do not think a VT or UVA are jobs that would sway him away from Memphis but of course I could be wrong. I still think a team closer to his roots is the biggest threat. One of the rules of Boy Scouting is to leave your campsite looking better when you leave it than when you arrived. Whenever ( and IF) CJF leaves he will have been a very good Scout. I am enjoying this ride for now.

RE: Fuente
I hope Fuente is here for the long haul, but if he does leave, there is no reason to panic:
(1) It has been proven that winning in football is possible here
(2) I am confident that Bowen will make a wise choice on the successor
(3) The successor won't be inheriting an empty cupboard
(4) Football is no longer being neglected
We'll be fine....

If so his current salary is in the upper 25% of of the AAC but his bonus is up there with most SEC schools. That said, he deserves an appropriate salary increase but it wouldn't take more than $200-300K to get him in line with some high performing P5 schools. If a new contract comes, I'm guessing his bonus pkg decreases somewhat.
Keeping his assistants should be a major goal too, both for the university & JF. That will take some money, esp going to Odom.
If he is offered a $200-$300,000 raise, we will be looking for a new coach
Then I bet we'll be looking for a new coach...

I've heard base in the $1.7M range w incentives that can get him up to around $2.7M total compensation.
I'll believe it when I see it...

Coach General Justin Fuente, wants to stay and continue building what he is starting here....His new deal should put him in the 1.7 to 1.8M base Salary and Bonus Incentives total could reach 2.7 to 2.9M which is pretty good and more seasons like this one which are only the beginning and he will continue to climb and get paid.....Now Once the Big 12 comes calling for Cincy and Memphis to get them back to 12 with CCG, then why would he wanna go somewhere else....He knows what the deal is, Where we are going, and what we are beginning to build, and its his program, he is b uilding this thing.....University of Memphis.
