What?

"Have ALREADY been made"? By whom?

That doesn't sound good.

Thought we were waiting on study? Thought it was Presidents decision? Ask him those questions and all board members. Don't be alarmed, it's not over! But call and ask!!! If you get an answer other than standard, let everyone know.

"Tough decisions". It's not a tough decision at all for St John and Bahr Jr.

A tough decision for them would be keeping the program around.

It doesn't make sense but the whole situation doesn't make sense

I just got off the phone with St. John and spoke to him. Apparently "tough decisions have to be made."

To paraphrase he said that the university is in the middle of a study and football draws a lot of money away from other programs. I stated that I'm sure that there are a lot of programs that draw money from other programs. I also stated that that football allows those kids to go to school and other programs that are tied into football, like the marching band and cheerleading, would be lost or reduced if football is discontinued. He stated that he understands but they have to do what is best for the university.
My last parting shot was that I understand that the university if trying to optimize it's resources and I have been contacted about donating, but as an alum I would hate to see football go away. I'm sure he sees how football draws alum back to the Tuscaloosa campus and it affects donations. I wAs hurried off the phone after that.

CALL HIM!!! AND GET OTHERS TO CALL!!!

St John has already made his decision...let's just hope that the other trustees and Watts make the right choice and not St Johns choice.

im all for making calls and writing letters, but honest question…

do you really think there is a single think you can say that would make one bit of a difference to st. john, bryant, etc?
of course we can give him the facts, but he already knows them all. what can you possible say to change his position?

my point is that if you have limited time to call/write, you may be better off contacting folks that might be persuaded to step up

So who will be responsible for making those "tough decision?"

A committee? The entire Board? UAB admin?

The guy that replied to me is Michael Bownes, and he is Dr. Witt's secretary, according to that list of contacts in another thread. I figured it would be out of his hands, but I was hoping he could pass my concerns on to Dr. Witt. That is what secretaries do. I didn't say anything back though. I think Mr. Bownes wants to be left alone.

none of this makes any sense

the study was commissioned by the president, then it was the bot who commissioned it

we were waiting to hear results of the study which is after the season, now we are waiting to hear something by this Wednesday

the bot had no involvement in this, now they have total involvement

WTF is going on.. who can give a logical, accurate timeline and fact sheet about this whole thing. None of it makes sense and each point seems to contradict one another.
