RE: We could lose every assistant
I must have put 40 lbs of fat on during my first year.

I have only worked in strength and conditioning for almost 20 years now.

We used to put on our leather helmets and go at it.

All those coaching clinic we spent at the blackjack table.

Us high school coaches are just not in touch anymore. Those 20-30 staffs we talked to every winter must be out of touch. Glad I retired before the single wing was gone.

LOL! No worries, you're done with him. He's over in the hockey forum bumping the "Fire Murray" thread looking for a fight now.

This should clear some things up. Also, to my knowledge, the only rules that changed over the summer were the number of full padded contact practices. Nothing changed with the actual time allotments coaches could be with players.

Basketball changed but didn't know football did.

Off season strength staff is all you have and each other.

I dont think they counted weight lifting back in my day in season but that might explain why they only had one hour blocks but most stayed close to two hours.

Main difference I see is the limit on contact days and two a days.

Actually looks more defined then my day. Summers I know we spent way more than 8 hours a week. Maybe it was voluntary, I am getting old memory is not so good.

Thanks jubba. Interesting stuff.

Wasn't it Rick Rod that get busted for way too many hours per week? Or was that Kelley?

I don't know what the big deal is, just trying to have a good conversation.

Fleck has said since day one.... He wants to carry a program to heights that no-one ever thought could happen. I almost think that Fleck gets more out of doing things no one thinks is possible, vs taking on enormous pressure and cash. He has incredible control over this program... he doesn't have to deal with raging deep pocketed boosters in droves... and he can still garner national attention.

If we can make him the highest paid coach in the MAC i would bet he sticks around longer than we all may think... at least I hope so...

I'm totally in this camp.

Now, is that realistic? Hard to say at this point.

But listening to PJ speak and seeing how much he clearly has a long-term vision, I can definitely see him being here longer than most would expect as he turns WMU into the new Boise.

Kill is about the only guy that comes to mind as bringing his whole staff to several stops. New job more money better assistants can be hired. It could go either way with PJ he could be another kill or any other coach who has a bigger budget.

Article on Kill and his staff.

This is a terrific article - thanks for posting this! Kill's success and his staff continuity is not a coincidence IMO. I hope we're able to keep as much of our staff together as possible after this season.
