I heard Mick has cancelled the rest of the season due to message board complaints.

RE: UC vs E. Illinois
Caupain, Clark, Ellis, Sanders, Shaq and Deberry get a pass from me, the rest were just bad.
My question going forward would have to be, who else in the backcourt, besides Caupain can be consistent? That may end up being the difference between a trip to the dance and the NIT imo.

Post game show, Mick is pretty much complaining more than everyone on here - COMBINED.

Why do we have to struggle? The other team in town has 7 newcomers and they aren't struggling. You saying are players aren't D-1 ready, that recruiting isn't what it should be ?

Funny how the last couple years people complain about not peaking in March now people are freaked out about not playing well in November.

What program other than Kentucky has 7 new players and is not going to struggle?

Michigan has 7 freshman players playing big minutes with 2 freshman starters. Only 2 of the 7 freshman players were 4 star recruits, but they all have shown some offense to their game. Beilein and Cronin are both successful coaches but one emphasizes offense more than defense. UC is scoring 58 points a game vs. 80 points a game for UM. Both teams are 3-0!

RE: UC vs E. Illinois
well, we have mr. Shaq Thomas, a 4th year junior still unable to hit a decent jump shot outside and he struggling to distribute the ball. Terry Nelson, during the game, said that one time, Thomas was dribbling like he's trying to kill ants. I am about to write him off as a potential star at UC. Just hopes some of the other guys take their game up another level. I always thought this year's team was going to be one of the best shooting of field goals and free throws. Right now, it's ugly. Praying they get it together soon or a long season will be in store for us all.

RE: UC vs E. Illinois
Three things to think about with UC.
eastern Illinois was to quick for UC guards. So quick guards will cause trouble.
Can't hit a jump shot. Continues to be an issue with UC
Dribble to much. Offense needs to evolve and get better

They put up 92 on a D2 team - color me impressed. They also shot 43% percent in their last game. UC shot 41% today.

What's painful is reading this board. Year after year we have the SAME whining crybabies flood this board with their drivel...every game...every sport.

"Struggles" I would understand, tonight was downright pathetic, horrendous basketball.

RE: UC vs E. Illinois
The defense is better than I thought it would be and you can tell Mick is working more on defense since that is his calling card, but I think they are ahead of schedule. Honestly I thought teams would be scoring at will on us and that would force the offense to go faster and do more. But the defense definitely appears to be coming on well.

I saw quite a few possessions on offense with good ball movement and we got a lot of wide open looks, but weren't knocking them down. Won't argue that there were lots of times they got stagnant and they need to look inside more and do a better job of entry passes as our bigs can finish and also have shown to be excellent passers. I think we have a lot of guys that can make shots, but we will be hot and cold. I stand by my statement we will have ups and downs early, but be tough late. Caupain appears to have taken the next step. Ellis looks like he will be a major factor. Clark continues to do the dirty work. Shaq showed some potential and started to do more what he excels at tonight. Lots of other guys with potential, but ones that will be very up and down.

The new guys have all shown flashes thus far and that is the big thing with new guys, consistency. It will come as the game slows down and things become more natural. I think at some point in the 5 games that have been played, that just about every newcomer has shown potential. They will make mistakes. We made a ton of stupid mistakes, turnovers, not hustling back. We probably gave up at least 15 points on getting beat back. We probably gave away 10 points trying to do something showy instead of the easy play. All stuff that is correctable. I was definitely disappointed with the effort tonight, but hopefully they learned a valuable lesson that they need to come and play hard all the time.

I don't care what other teams are doing. Sure they are scoring 90, but they are giving up 65 or 70 and not really showing much on defense. Lets see how those guys do against real competition that they struggle to stop and see a tougher defense. I agree we will have issues, but if you defend, you will be in the game. Our guys are working hard on that and I think that will lead to them having a legit shot against some of these tougher games coming up. The offense will come as we have play makers. They know what they need to improve upon.

Pathetic. Look thee in the mirror. You're beyond critical. You simply trash every coach, every player, every game

I really like this roster, but the goes that are going to have to be key players for this team to excel have not played a ton of D1 basketball. It is going to take time. Most of us expected growing pains, but they will get there.

RE: UC vs E. Illinois
Quotes directly from Mick Cronin's (head basketball coach of Cincinnati) mouth
"I thought it was horrible."
"2 for 13 from with good looks, 19 turnovers."
"I told them,'We're awful.'"
"Our leaders have not gotten the job done."

Someone should tell Mick that it's early and we are young so we will struggle early. (SARCASM)
I'm sure there was more but I got tired of all the buffering on gobearcats.com but I am hoping to god that Mick took at least a little bit of the blame and said he and the staff needs to improve.

The turnovers are bothering me more than anything, especially given the competition level.
