RE: Time to step up
How is attendance reporting going to work?
-Its widely known that schools often under report playoff attendance because the NCAA gets a cut of the gate. Is it 25%? of gate or bid, whichever is greater? (I know I'm the one usually looking stuff up but no time now).
-Now what about with these donated tickets in the case of JMU? Will they count towards attendance period, or only if they are used (scanned)? (We've seen attendance figures this season that say one thing and our eyeballs say another).
-Since JMU has such a high bid, wouldn't there not be any need to do the under reporting?

I'd imagine if we really did bid the rumored $100k, we would not want to owe them more than that amount. If you take that, multiply by 4, $400,000 ticket revenue needed to break even. At an average ticket price of $25 (ranging from free for students, $12 GA or up to $100), that would mean an attendance of 16,000. IMO, that's realistic to expect that.
I think they'll report 16,000-ish, regardless of the real butts in seats. I only think they'd report less if there is actually less than that, which won't be the case.
There's no benefit in reporting more if they're not enforcing it. I don't like it for statistical purposes because it makes us look like we had less at our games this year than we really did, but I understand the need to save money.

I think your last point is correct. Most Revenue JMU could possible report would be avg. ticket price $20 times 25,000 as a sellout = 500k divided by 4 = 125,000. I suspect that is right around the bid or maybe the bid is slightly higher.
Not sure whether you count student tickets as tickets sold. Just not sure how that works but either way, it's less likley they have to report.
The bid is the NCAA's take.

I think we bid a lot more than people understand. I think we changed the game in playoff bidding.

I think you certainly changed the bid process from the Liberty admin position. They put in a "healthy" bid so I am sure moving forward it will always top 100k.
