RE: FCS Playoff Bracket/Discussion
I want all CAA teams to win every matchup, except Richmond. I want them to lose. I want their fans to experience the humbling numbness of a gut-wrenching defeating. I want them to lose control of their Range Rovers & get in multiple vehicle car crashes, causing their insurance premiums to sky-rocket. I want their stock holdings to plummet. I want their wives to leave them.

They'd probably like to. I remember in 08 they suddenly got a lot more strict on streamers when the playoffs came around. Back then, before the expansion and with where we sat, I could throw them towards the field and they usually wouldn't get over the fence, sometimes just barely. I threw one the same way I had for years and it just barely dropped over the fence and some cop pointed me out and called me down and told me to "give me one good reason I shouldn't throw you out right now":banghead: Then after he had his fun told me he'd be watching me the rest of the game and if I threw another towards the field I was gone.

See - that's where you are going wrong. Root for the Ticks...alright, don't do that...root against the opponents of the Ticks. Imagine if we make it to the semi-finals and Richmond upsets NDSU in the quarters? We would get Richmond at home in the semis. Then WE get to be the ones who crush their dreams.

You're right, but I see no possible way Richmond wins more than 2 games in the playoffs. They're terrible & their coach thinks he's Belichick when he's more Eric Mangini. I would hire Al Groh to be my head coach before I would hire Danny Rocco.

I honestly would give up beating them in the semis if it meant they wouldn't win another game this year. I want them to drown in sorrow. I want their young to grow up knowing only the feeling of loss. I want to drink their sweet tears. (Ok, that last one would totally be better if they made it to the semis & lost to JMU.)

By the way, how much did Jay Walker lose it when he realized the MEAC only got one team in? I had to leave early and I heard how he wasn't happy about Indiana State making it...I can only assume they put him on a 5-second delay when they finished the bracket.

Yeah that'd be great. Even better than having them lose to a JMU team they should lose to after beating a team or two they should also lose to, though, would be watching them get blind sided and lose to a team they should have no problem with.

He did make a comment about how he couldn't believe Indiana state got in and he liked Bethune-cookman's chances. He didn't go overboard but I could tell her was annoyed at the almighty MEAC only getting one in.

Right now I care about beating Liberty. To hell with Richmond and their whiny little coach.

Someone should tell that clown: 0-16 since 2000'. Under no circumstances should they ever get 2 teams in until they win a game this century..

RE: FCS Playoff Bracket/Discussion
If they had seeded it 1-24, then opening round would have paired up #9/#24, #10/#23, #11/#22 etc, etc until #16/#17.

I think it might have been something along these lines (did this without looking at any polls/rankings but simply looking at schedules & results). How do you'all think it would have gone down?

-Current 1-8 seeds obviously as is.

#9 UNI (8-4/6-2), 2 close I-A losses, 2-2 vs playoff, beat NDSU.
#10 SELA (9-3/7-1), 0-1 vs playoff. (think 1st Southland would be before 3rd CAA).
#11 JMU (9-3/6-2), 1-1 vs playoff.
#12 Montana (8-4/6-2), 7-4 Div I, 1-2 vs playoff (played @ NDSU closer than SDSU).
#13 SDSU (8-4/5-3), 7-4 vs Div I, 2-2 vs playoff.
#14 RU (8-4/5-3), 1-2 vs playoff.
#15 Fordham (10-2/6-0), 0-1 vs playoff (lost to VU 50-6).
#16 EKU (9-3/6-2) played 2 I-A, beat 1 (Miami of OH), 0-1 vs playoff.
#17 Montana State (8-4/6-2) (5-3 vs Big Sky teams as they lost vs EWU "OOC"), 7-4 vs Div I, 0-2 vs playoff.
#18 SHSU (8-4/7-1), Southland AQ, DNP SELA. 1-1 vs playoff, thumped by a Div II powerhouse
#19 Ind St (7-5/4-4), 2-3 vs playoff.
#20 Liberty (8-4/4-1), 6-4 vs Div I (played 2 I-A (beat App State), played 2 Div II, 1-1 vs playoff (lost @ Ind St).
#21 SFA (8-4/5-3), 7-4 vs Div I, 0-1 vs playoff.
#22 Sacred Heart (9-2/5-1), 8-2 vs Div I, 0-0 vs playoff, beat UD.
#23 Morgan State (7-5/6-2), 6-5 vs Div I, 0-1 vs playoff.
#24 San Diego (9-2/7-1), 8-2 vs Div I, 0-1 vs playoff and 0-1 vs scholarship (lost 34-3 to Cal Poly, only scholly team they played).

Ironically, with 2nd round #11/#22 winner @ #6, such a seeding would have left #11 JMU @ #6 Villanova 2nd round..

The committee tries to avoid rematches in the 1st round. (Whoever mentioned that Fordham/Sacred Heart was a rematch - they were talking about the 1st round last year. And you have 2 Southland teams playing each other, but they didn't play each other this year either.)

We have a winnable game at home against Liberty. We would have a winnable 2nd round game at Villanova. We would have a winnable 3rd round game (possibly at home if Jacksonville State is taken out.) We do not meet-up with NDSU until the 4th round...assuming they are not upset. There are no cupcakes for us - but we have strong chances in every game.

Good post as always!

I like our draw in this tournament. Referencing what you said about Jax St., if we beat Liberty and Nova (tall order, but doable), than we'll meet someone other than JAx St IMHO. Looking at the top 4 seeds, I definitely think they are the first to go down. If that's the case we could/should host in the third round. After that who knows, maybe NDSU gets upset, maybe we take them down. We're a scary team!

Oh yeah and Ruck Fichmond!

This feels like 2004. We're hot at the right time and we carry a chip on shoulder. Who cares about rematches, just win baby!

JMU could be playing Richmond at Bridgeforth in the semi-finals should both teams advance that far.

04' was different. Much better defense. Much more ground and pound offense. That 04' team was built for the weather & field conditions of those 04' road playoff games. That 04' team was built for Dec football. I don't think this team is.

Well, NDSU has won 3 straight national titles running a non hurry up, huddle, QB under center, old school, smash mouth, power I, really good running game, decent passing, great defense, solid special teams. The only thing that they are missing from old school is outdoors on grass...

I wasn't going tit for tat on x's and o's, more referencing our ability to win games and improve through the season. The 2004 team ripped off a string of wins and peaked at the right time, which carried into the playoffs and to a NC. I think this team is on a heater and they can beat anyone in the country the way they have played down the stretch.
