Child Puhleeeze!!! Beat us by 1 in triple overtime; you went 1-3 in OOC beating only Savannah State. We went 3-1 beating Navy, Army and BGSU. , Plus, we just beat the #24 ranked team at their place! So, who's more deserving?

MT would finish second in the East, but there would be 5 CUSA teams with 7 wins for 5 bowl slots. I guess we would find out how ironclad that "7 win team goes before a 6 win team" rule is. I know the Bahamas wants us, but I bet they can't send the invite because of this exact scenario still being a possibility. UAB and MT would both sit at home (unless we got lucky with another slot) if that rule holds.
All 7 win teams should go bowling before any 6 win teams.
Yeah, I agree, but I sure would love to get some payback for the screwjob we got on our way out of the Sun Belt that sent WKU to a bowl and us at home at 8-4. Returning that favor would be sweet.
Everyone has been screwed by the SUn Belt in bowl selection unless you are the protected teams at Laf. and Arky St.
I am just glad I don't have to root for all of these teams as we are in..CUSA is smart to reward teams based on wins on the field....I will say after 3 years of experience of intense score board watching this week, teams you think have no shot of winning that would become bowl eligible will surprise and win that 6th game, happens every season....

The SBC returned the favor last year.......We finished 8-4 and beat Arkansas State in the last regular season game. They finished 7-5 and went to the GoDaddy.com Bowl.......We finished 8-4 (Tied for the best overall record in the SBC) and stayed home.
And yet, Karl Benson actually tried to get the Go Daddy to take you guys over us...We just sort of went behind his back and used our Mobile connections to get the game. (We've had several here who have acknowledged that Benson wanted you guys in Mobile, and we sort of messed up that plan)
I'm sure if we win tomorrow and finish 7-5, he'll find some way to screw us this year to get us back for that deceit.

I was referring to WKU's one on one dealings with Detroit, which was against league policy at the time, which ultimately kept us out. Whatever, that's water under the bridge. True, you guys did get hosed the next season and I had a good laugh at your expense then. Here's to both of us going bowling this season.
chiefsfan - you may be right. It might be your turn on the Karl Benson 'sit at home' holiday fun ride.

RE: Bowl placement.
One interesting development is that now, if MWC gets the Access slot, they will have at least one (maybe two, if Fresno loses) slot open. That very well could be New Orleans (which is why some WKU fans are probably hearing NOLA as a possibility). It could also be the Potato Bowl in Boise. Both could be open if Hawaii upsets Fresno State. This is because they would fill the Cactus Bowl as their #2 slot, so it's still the same number of at large bowl slots open.

NOLA would be nice (vs. UL-L no doubt). They would pack the house for that one for sure. We would send a good number of fans as well. It would be a great game.

But only .500 playing the same conference schedule as us. And IMO, the rest of the non-conf can be compared quite well. Both of us played Big Ten. Both of us played an Indy and both of us played another 500 plus G5 team, but when you compare them I'm not sure you win any of them either except Savannah.
Minn > Illinois
BYU > Navy
Memphis > Bowling Green
And I'm not sure that Savannah St as bad as that team is wouldn't give Army a tussle. They're epically bad too. In fact, if you had our schedule you don't even get to six wins.

You know that Illinois beat Minn right? Not saying they are a better team, but I think it at least makes them comparable.
BYU hasn't really been that great this year after beating Texas (which is also way down). I wouldn't really say they are that much better than Navy (if any). Either way, everyone knew policy going into the season. You can't change the rules after the game.

Yeah, that was one of the bigger upsets this year. Surprised me about as much as yesterday did.
BTW, I didn't realize I had the power to change the rules after the fact, so I need to look into that. I never said I didn't agree with it. Just said it would be frustrating to be on this side of getting shafted...again...especially coming to this league.
But we've both been there before. It's no one's fault but our own. We never should have lost to FIU, but we still have a chance today. We know the score going into tonight's game. If we don't win tonight again we'll have no one to blame but ourselves.

3-1 > 1-3 Nuff said! Can't really compare conference schedules since we didn't play the same teams.
BTW Our SOS is 10 spots higher than muts too!

5-2 vs. 4-4
Can we compare that since the schedule is basically the same? Hopefully that turns into 6-2 but I have already said we have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't get to 7-5.
You get a schedule bump because you didn't play a I-AA team...though you might as well have in Army.

Army is a great OOC opponent. Big name, big crowds, and practically a guaranteed Win. Rice played the first game with Army this year in a four game contract. No downside to scheduling Army.

Heard that reps from the Armed Forces Bowl and Independence Bowl are going to be at the Tech/Rice game today.
