Let's hope Price might have found his trey shot today.

RE: GameDay: Longwood
if the starters stayed in, EMU would have won by 40. our defense was very good. it's been a nice warm-up, now the 2 week wait until a decent opponent.

BTW, I think we're getting closer to be a complete team (maybe a donut hole in the middle though???).

Bond and Price are two missing pieces.

Price, hopefully, will have more games like today and Bond will prove to be an impact player at several positions.

At that point all of the 'interchangeable parts' are in order.

Couple of quick thoughts:
1) It isn't often that you lose the battle of the boards and win by 30.
2) Ray Lee is growing up before our eyes.
3) I sat behind Trent Perry's parents at the game today. Seeing him score his first bucket, but seeing the joy it brought his parents was priceless.

Oh my gosh. Where did they get Okoloji? The guy is a fantastic player. Remarkable find by Murphy and crew.

The shocking thing is that he essentially got run out of Fairfax (George Mason).

He did NOT have a good career there and my friend, a 25 year Mason season ticket holder, was like don't sign him, was very negative on him, etc. etc.

AO had all kind of problems offensively, etc.

It appears that Paul Hewitt, the Mason coach, apparently has messed up some players there (I think Hewitt will be gone come March).

Okoloji must have been the 'diamond in the rough'. As was posted in another thread (somewhere here) that Okoloji knew Murphy from a summer camp while at Syracuse. There are 350 D-I schools looking at players who can transfer and a coach needs to break through the 'clutter' to get considered.

IF Bond is as good as some think, it will show the absolute eye for talent that Murphy has.

He's stealing them...

That is very interesting, Steve.
I was very surprised this would be the option for replacing GB3. But working out nicely. He must have been very frustrated at GM.

RE: GameDay: Longwood
Sounds like all he needed was some minutes. He's a very smart player on both ends of the court. I had read that he was a very aggressive defender/rebounder, but was also under the impression that he couldn't do much offensively. It looks like quite the opposite. Nice to have an inside-out offensive presence that can take some of the scoring brunt off of the big three (we still need to figure out a name for them). What a find Okoloji has been.

Apparently there were 'problems' on the team. Doubt Okoloji was happy. The other kid, Arledge, had back problems and wanted to med. redshirt. Hewitt said no; wanted him to come back. Finally Hewitt relented and he graduated and transferred to ODU. Sounds like Arledge wanted to 'take advantage' of the med. redshirt opportunity and play elsewhere.

Couple of other points:

1). We've had a very easy schedule of 5 home games. Life could look a little different in say two weeks. We'll see. Okoloji needs to show he can do it versus A-10 (Dayton) or better (UofM and MSU).

2). However, all of the players are getting a lot of meaningful PT, including players like EA, Price, Nazione, Bond (when healthy), etc. who will be important cogs in the '15/'16 season. These kids will be better next year for the meaningful PT they are getting this year. EA is not being brought in 'slowly' - 5 or 10 minutes per game.

With Rochester, Marygrove, and Concordia ahead, every player who can dress will get some significant minutes before the conference season starts. As KPJ posted, Perry and his family were very happy when he scored his first points as a D-I player. When every player gets his time, the team is probably happier. Sharing the PT.

3). The team seems very happy and close. I wonder if the '13/'14 team was always on the same page??? I get the feeling that the players weren't always on the same page and a lot of times Murphy wasn't happy with the effort (esp. D). Yes, a few players transferred. This team seems very cohesive.

Another example of a graduate transfer doing very well at his new home (and the weather is 03-cloud9).

From reserve to starter with big minutes, production and a new weapon: the trey bomb (which he didn't have in Ann Arbor).
