Critical Mission
From the discussions that happened today, and what a few of us can piece together, major conversations and decisions will occur between now and Wednesday. And, it appears, as if we didn't know, BOT members are weighing in strongly.

For now, put the SACs issues aside, and help spread the message to them that people care about UAB football. The majority of BOT members go to Bama games and are told by a handful that there are never more than a couple of thousand at our games. If you don't believe its true, look at Governor Bentley's comments earlier this week.

In the next 96 hours, please email all BOT members pictures from the game with positive messages about atmosphere and spirit. I would include Dr. Witt , Governor Bentley and Dr. Watts as well. I hope someone can post the email of all BOT members. Also, put on Twitter and FB as much positive about UAB Football as possible.

This is in addition to all the other contacts that I hope you are making. If we fight hard, then this will not be the last week of UAB Football.

RE: Critical Mission
Does that mean that the study has delivered it's findings or is this now being done without regards to the "study?"

Let's put some email addresses up and blast away! Also may be a good idea for the Dragon to print the petition and ship it to the BOT.

I say we should also focus on what football is really about. Giving athletes the chance to earn a degree and play the sport they love. Also we should remind them that having a decent football program is essential to drawing alumni back to the school and will increase donations.

The study was subterfuge to mask several BOT members' direct involvement in killing UAB Football. Watts and Mackin never dreamed that this many people cared. We have to provide them support NOW to navigate through this.

Well that sounds like a definite SACS violation. Secret meetings by a few Trustees.

Well, here's one . Chancelor Witt : witt@uasystem.ua.edu

You will be amazed at how many folks work for the "System" in both Bham and Ttown. They are listed on the web page below. They could probably trim about 1/4 of those positions and pay for the entire UAB football team's scholarships.

I feel like there was a thread with all the BOT contact info during the stadium debacle that could be pulled back the important threads.

RE: Critical Mission
Dear UA Trustees:

As a UAB alumnus, I am SO proud of my team, coaches, and fans for an inspiring season. We have had the 3rd largest per game average attendance in school history this season. Also, the team scored its highest APR (academic score) in team history this year. Coach Bill Clark is getting his guys to do things the right way!!

Today, over 28,000 fans came out to watch UAB narrowly lose to undefeated and nationally ranked Marshall 23-18. So many of us have followed UAB for over two decades and it has become an integral part of our lives.

Please don't let anyone wreck this tradition for UAB and diminish our university by closing this program!

Please support UAB Football!

Perfect! In the next 24 hours, we need dozens of these types of emails to Dr. Witt, Governor Bentley, Dr. Watts and the entire BOT. There is a lot of shifting sand, and I believe that our future will be determined in the next 96 hours. The past few weeks have had a cumlative effect. We have got to keep pounding.

RE: Critical Mission
Good evening, Dr. Witt.

It is my hope that this missive finds you well.

I am an alum of UAB and a Blazer fan. I am also the father of a Marching Blazer. No doubt, you've heard the scuttlebutt in the media lately that there are rumblings that the UAB football team's future is in jeopardy. What I would like from your office is a public statement, a full-throated affirmation, if you will, of the commitment of the UA system to the success of both its football programs.

You don't have to make your announcement immediately.

Monday will be fine.

Thank you for your attention to this matter of great concern to me, Dr. Witt.

Warmest personal regards,

[Smaug]
