Quote:Alabama, Florida State May Open 2017 Season in Atlanta
Posted: 25 Nov 2014 09:42 AM PST
The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida State Seminoles may face off in Atlanta to open the 2017 season, the Palm Beach Post has reported.

The matchup would be the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and it would be played in the new Atlanta Falcons Stadium that is currently under construction. It would likely be played on Saturday evening on an ESPN network.

I hope the payout is big. Because we'd be giving up our 7th home game that year for this. Already face Clemson and uf on the road.

Impossible. Ragu says that SEC teams always duck FSU.

Are you FSU's accountant? You seem to have weird priorities for a fan.

And they have in the past. LSU, Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina have all done it. In fact FSU just had something going with Georgia for 2015 and they pussed out last minute. That is why FSU has 2 cupcake games. And in 2016, they had something set up with South Carolina who pussed out forcing them to move onto Ole Miss....

I always said Alabama was the exception to the rule and would play FSU as well. Ole Miss was the one that surprised me...

Valid concern.

Don't have faith in AD Wilcox....he knows ZERO about college football. He is a Big East type AD, not southern football guy.

FSU was only going to play 6 home games in 2016?

The reason I ask is South Carolina will play @ Clemson in 2016 and they will not go below seven home games. Not to mention that one of the reasons they would have been hesitant to add a game in 2016 is the fact that they already had to move East Carolina to 2016 from 2015 to accommodate the game in Charlotte against the Tarholes. With East Carolina, @ Clemson, and the in-state FCS (currently listed as Coastal Carolina but Coastal no longer plays FBS games) and their typical scheduling philosophy they only slot left was the one for a home game against a lower FBS team.

It was going to be neutral site just as the reported one with Ole Miss will be (Orlando in this case).

Wasn't going to happen, at least not in 2016. South Carolina makes too much money to give up the 7th home game and with four SEC road games and @ Clemson there isn't any room in the even number years for another game away from Williams-Brice.
