I'm more concerned about the couches holding up after the beating they've taken over the last week.

Don't worry. Nothing perks up a couch like a good lei.

An old WAC rivalry in paradise. I believe Rice is undefeated in Hawaii, but have never beaten Fresno.

Marshall recruits Florida, so it makes sense. Also, The MAC, WAC former rivalry themes hold up.

2 weeks ago it was a no brainer. Since I'm so annoying to The Rice Sage, I'm rooting for the group I best fit in with.

It also pairs conference Champions and gives Marshall players (23 of them from Florida) a chance to play in front of family/friends.

Loss at home to WKU and a less than convincing win ( and a huge tip of the cap to Skip Holtz) at home vs La Tech.

With all due respect to the pundits, once you get past the first 15-20 bowls, it's ALL pretty meaningless other than for fans of the individual schools.

As a fan of Rice, while I understand that far fewer of us can travel to Hawaii than Dallas, this is an EXEPTIONAL experience for the players, many of whom probably have never been to Hawaii... and some of their families have never been... and Sheraton puts on a first-class event.

Congratulations to the team.

As far as the game goes, on the plus-side, though a down year for them, this is a team that was recently 'in the conversation' for a BCS Bowl. Beating them would resonate somewhat 'in passing'... at least more than beating CMU. On the downside, they are (imo) somewhat similar to LaTech on offense and throw down field

+1 on the Hawaii trip. Augie likes the Hawaii trip so much that he sometimes forget to tell the team he previously scheduled that he also scheduled a trip out to the islands on those dates.

Hawaii was advertised as one of the consolations for Rice being in the WAC after the SWC fell apart. Play for Rice and you might get a chance to visit Hawaii (instead of places like Waco or Lubbock).
