RE: Florida state had better be thankful there's a four team playoff
Their schedule is comparable to us (Cincinnati) in 2009 when we went 12-0 in the Big East, although we beat teams more convincingly. We were left out of the BCS championship game, but would have made a 4-team playoff. Florida State is in a similar situation. I do think a team like Florida State (and Cincy from 2009) deserves a shot at the championship though because they still play in what SHOULD be a tough conference and their OOC schedule of Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, and Florida would be brutal most years.

There is absolutely no way that FSU would have been left out in the old system. The undefeated defending national champs would be in the top 2.

Only because the ACC absolutely sucks. Hell they probably wouldn't have made it last year if they weren't in the ACC.

I agree with that. I don't believe an undefeated power conference team was ever left out in favor of a 1-loss team... please correct me if I am wrong.

Until they get to 8, it's mythical; all of them have been.

Free Shrimp U is going to get thumped by Florida so they will be out of the top 4 soon enough and they may well lose the ACC CCG after that as well

This is one of the more unintelligent things said on this site.

No undefeated power 5 team would be left out of the bcs. FSU would be #1 in both polls and easily in the bcs top 2 were that the case.

Not like they beat the SEC champ or anything to win the title...

It was a tremendous schedule that just didn't quite work out. But it's still a tougher SOS than miss state, Baylor, tcu and Ohio state, per espn.

Actually I think the other three are lucky. In the old system if they stayed undefeated they wouldn't have been left out

I think Ohio State's was similar well-intentioned that did not live up. Hey scheduled two BCS teams (Cincy was when scehduled) and scheduled a game @navy in place of a 1AA school. Since their one loss was the week after replacing their QB I think they probably have as much a claim on the fourth spot as anyone else.

And yes FSU's schedule, with three p5 OOC schools, two who would be classified as "kings" was most certainly designed to be the toughest schedule they possibly could have scheduled.

uk had better be thankful that NCAA basketball is not seeded or ranked like the College Football Playoffs. Not only would they not get/ deserve a 1 seed based on their sorry ass schedule, they may not even get a 2. The weak ass SEC would drag them out of the top four seeds.04-cheers

37 - FSU's current strength of schedule ranking.

They will play...

20 - Florida SoS
45 - Georgia Tech SoS

They have three wins over ranked teams...

#22 Clemson (23-17 OT) Week 3
#5 Notre Dame (31-27) Week 7
@ #25 Louisville (42-31) Week 8

And the will play ranked GT (Currently #18 and will remain ranked even in a loss against #10 Georgia) in the ACC Championship.

If we assume they win out then they'd play for the NC in the BCS format.

The ranking when the game is played is totally meaningless. The committee doesn't view Notre Dame at all as the #5 team.

FSU really needs Clemson, Ga Tech, and Louisville to win their SEC games. FSU's worry now is will they be #3 or #4 and have to play Alabama in the 1st round.

Think FSU would have been in the top 2 for sure.

"FSU's worry now is will they be #3 or #4 and have to play Alabama in the 1st round."

I don't think anyone is "worried" this year about any other team in the CFP. They are all very equal.

This year is lining up perfectly for the committee.

If OSU and Oregon win out--even if it's ugly--then they'll be in the Rose Bowl.
FSU and the SEC champ will be in the Sugar Bowl (barring any odd SEC outcomes in the next two weeks).

1. Oregon
2. FSU or SEC
3. FSU or SEC
4. OSU

Perfectly justifiable situation. Baylor and TCU and the Big 12 can be ticked, but not having a CCG is their own fault (or Texas's).

Oregon won't pass Alabama, especially if Missouri loses and Alabama plays Georgia. Alabama would have Auburn and Georgia while Oregon would have Oregon St and UCLA.

I think my thoughts have been jaded by the whole Winston thing....call it Jameis fatigue. I am now thinking if undefeated at the end they deserve to be numero 1. They are being held by others and myself to the high standard they set last year; this is probably not fair.

Maybe Florida knocks them off, that is my wish.

I know one thing for sure- if FSU loses either of their last 2 games, they have absolutely no chance of being in the playoff.
