Placeholder for ODUs upset victory today.

NW dominating Purdue early on.

UCF continuing SMUs misery.

La tech takes the early lead with a TD. They have some nice offensive pieces.

I love the dueling "Other Games" threads. Thought I'd post on this one to even things out a little.

Sorry ... I just saw this one, and it was started earlier ... so I'll move over here.

In Birmingham ... after a 75-yard Marshall run from their own 5 to the UAB 20, the Herd drives down to the 1 ... and fumbles. UAB recovers.

In Norfolk ... Two plays after dropping a pass in the end zone, ODU goes for it on 4th & 3 ... and scores. Catch in traffic and dramatic run.

21-14 with 1:54 left in the half.

21-point favorite uh had cooged a 14-point lead at home against 2-8 Tulsa - 21-21 late in the 3rd.

Minnesota is losing - that's good for Marshall. Marshall only up 17-12 in the third - not so good for Marshall.

No problem. I didn't see this earlier one either. :-) Too much multi-tasking (breakfast, coffee, notes, fantasy updates, slow computer etc.) :-)

RE: Other CFB action 11/22
ODU announcer: "The crowd roars, 'Yay! A regular kickoff!' "

They also just had a "Donor Spotlight" feature on a fellow named Ted ... who is a Rice grad! Did anyone else who might be listening catch is last name?

Edit: Google to the rescue! There was also a print version. It's Ted Farmer ('72).

Ted Farmer Wrote:What is your favorite memory of ODU Athletics?

September 20, 2014: After having flown into Houston the night before, I took my nephew James Gregory and his son Aidan to Rice Stadium, where we watched my ODU football team defeat my alma mater, Rice University, 45-42. This game was the fulfillment of a most unlikely dream. It arose from a chance conversation that I had with then Athletic Director Jim Jarrett in the summer of 2006. I told Jim how excited I was that ODU was bringing back football and pondered the possibility that ODU might someday play my alma mater. "Where did you go to school?" Jim asked. "Rice University" I replied. Jim then exclaimed, "Oh, no, they're way to good for us to play them!" Well, I thought, "Why not?' As a 12th Monarch, I yelled and screamed as our football team did so well at the FCS level. Then we took the leap of faith into Conference USA which had Rice as a member. Then we were dealt Rice as our first C-USA football opponent. This opportunity was a "dream come true" for me, and I was there as we won in dramatic form! Believe me: it was worth the eight-year wait!

Ouch!!

Tech gets 43-yard FG at halftime. 24-14, LaTech.

We need a big second half from the Monarchs.
