It's hard to know what to say that is meaningful after a loss like that. When your shooters go cold against a zone like that, I don't know that there is much you can do, and when you get loose with the ball on top of that -- well, we saw the result. Hopefully, they learn something from this loss and become a better team for having experienced it. I suspect JJ will make that happen.

That's my view on it. One shot showed JJ HOT in the beginning. Top the sloppy passes and turnovers on top of a cold shooting night and you're doneski even if your Kentucky.

I'm sure lots of film and practice on dealing with that.

Sloppy passes and turnovers explains the 1st half, but after 9 turnovers in the first 11 minutes, we only had 13 for the game.

If you don't make the outside shot and they sit back in a zone it's a long night. Forget and Move On.

Red Birds were the better team last night.

I know many are disappointed with last night's results, but we must remember our team is very young and has many new moving parts that still have to come together and work as a whole. It's easy to let one's hopes get ahead of reality after three wins, but it's going to take a lot more than that before this team develops consistency. I think we'll get there by the end of the season, but it could be a roller coaster in the meantime. With any luck I think we have a good chance of improving on last season. It won't come easily, though. There are a lot of good teams out there. The Red Birds was one of them.

Yes it was brutal. It is also over.

With a W tonight, we come home at 4-1. I think most of us would have taken it if it was offered two weeks ago.

I'm hoping for an isolated incident here and nothing further. Ice cold shooting is tough to overcome. We know at least that this team CAN shoot, so I think it was just an off night with a very poor gameplan.

On the bright side, there WERE open looks...we just failed to convert them into points.

RE: Game #4: Illinois State 11/23/14
I think tonight is a HUGE game for this team. A win is similar to alcohol. It can make anything look good. So if we escape with a win, then I will be happy.

I will still be ok with a loss if we see certain things. This team must show that they learn quickly from mistakes. If/when Garner-Webb drops into any sort of zone, we must execute our passes with precision. Attack the middle and force them to give up on the zone. Ball control and controlling the tempo of this game would also be signs of improvement.

So, long story short. A win is the perfect cure. Overall improvement will do just fine.

4-1 and I am stoked. 3-2 was what I was expecting prior to the season so that would be right in line with expectations.

Nothing better after shooting 2-17 from behind the arc than to get another shot the next day.

Looks like the Red Birds are now making a game out of it.

Sure would like to see these Red Birds pull it out. They get close, then let it slip away. Most of the team is in foul trouble.

After a miserable start, Illinois State battled hard, but just couldn't dig out of the hole they dug. Where have I seen that before? They lose 84-80. They look they could be a pretty good team. Good luck MVC.
