There’s way too much wrong in Obama’s speech to properly analyze here, but this one racist statement sticks out boldly:

Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our fruit and make our beds never have a chance to get right with the law?

So in making a case to allow illegal aliens to stay here indefinitely by painting them as “regular folks,” Obama reduces all Latino immigrants to “fruit pickers” and “maids.” You’d be hard pressed to find a President making such bigoted statement. He might as well have called them “wetbacks” and “beaners.”

To understand this racism, let’s pretend Obama was talking about black immigrants:

Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our cotton and shine our shoes never have a chance to get right with the law?

Or Asian immigrants:

Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who pick our rice and do our laundry never have a chance to get right with the law?

How about Indian immigrants?

Are we a nation that tolerates the hypocrisy of a system where workers who drive our cabs and work in our 7-11s never have a chance to get right with the law?

Oh wait, Vice President Joe Biden already did that one when he said, “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

You get the point though. Obama calling Latino immigrants fruit pickers and maids is highly offensive. He certainly wouldn’t tolerate being called a shoe shiner or cotton picker, so why does he think it’s okay to denigrate people from another race in the same way?

And consider that Obama belongs to the Democratic Party; the same people that tell us the term “illegal alien” is offensive. Even though people who enter this country illegally are by definition “illegal” and the fact that they are not citizens of the US makes them “aliens” it is somehow hateful to call them illegal aliens. Yet, it is apparently just fine to call them fruit pickers because that’s what our President refers to them as.

I know what you’re going to say: Obama is black (or half black) so he is incapable of racism. Also, he’s a democrat, which doubly excuses him from accusations of being racist. It’s only white Republicans that are racist, right?

If we’re ever going to advance in this country, we need to have the same rules for everyone. It’s the only way things will ever be truly fair and equal. A great start would be to have a president that doesn’t call Latinos a bunch of bed-making fruit-pickers.
