Western Michigan at Miami...Hockey
#7 Miami hosts the Broncos this weekend. Miami is 8-4 (4-2) while Western is off to a slow start at 3-6 (1-4-1). Last year WM contributed greatly to Miami's unexpected poor season, sweeping the RedHawks 4-0, so Miami may be hoping for a little "payback".

WMU is starting to get things together a little bit, I'm hoping for two solid games and at least a split.

We know that Miami is gunning for them after last year. Broncos have probably lost 2 games already that 'should' have been wins. Lots of young guys in the lineup but they are getting better each week. WMU can't afford losing out on standings points at this point in the season, as we'll slip too far behind in the NCHC. Redhawks have been playing well so far.

Two different styles on display this weekend. Broncos want to grind them down, Miami using their speed and skill to finesse the opponent.

Hoping for two good games and at least a split in this series.

Miami wins 1-0 over WMU after a Jay Williams shutout. I guess it's tough to row the boat when the water is frozen solid.

Good thing WMU bball and football are hot. I thought we'd build off our NCHC Final 4 (forget what it's called) run to end last season.

It was a pretty even game, but Miami's speed got us one breakaway goal. We also hit the crossbar once, while Western hit the post twice and got called for an offsides I did not see with 4 seconds to go when they had a breakaway chance. We will have another go tomorrow.

Better watch out. Been a pretty good day so far for Bronco sports. As an aside, our team has lost the last 5 or 6 Friday night games but are hell on wheels (skates) on Saturdays. Sooner or later, they'll break through on those Friday games......

Well, that didn't work out so good for us. Miami thumped us tonight. Redhawks have it going on. Congrats.
