UMKC pregame thread
They likely will start a front-line of 6-9, 6-8, 6-6, and can bring 6-10 off the bench. They shoot very well: 46% overall, 39% from the arc and 74% from the line. They are minus 2 rebounding. They are 2-1, with wins coming over Missouri and Missour S&T. They lost to Kansas State by only 10 points. Obviously, this is not a team we can take for granted.

Their mini-hoss is 5-11 Martez Harrison, their point guard. He is averaging 20 ppg with an A/TO ratio of over 3. And he shoots 85% from the line, so you don't want to foul him. He has shot 28 FTs in the three games. The only other double-figure scorer is (love this name) Shayok Shayok at 11 ppg and 6.3 rpg. He is shooting an amazing 15 of 19 (78.9%) from the field.

Based on their games at Mizzou and KState this will be an extremely tough game. We are at home, but we'll be lucky to have 200 people at the game with the hog football team playing. I definitely had this as a win, when I first saw the schedule, but certainly don't feel very confidant at all at this point.

This is a game of equal competition. We can judge ourselves a little better in this game. I would hope we could win this at home. It would gain us a little street cred since they defeated Mizzou and played Kansas State to within 10 points.

Why couldn't this game have been played Saturday night instead of going head to head with college football. I guess there are always extenuating circumstances, but sometime I don't think people think much when scheduling some of the games. Like scheduling UALR and ASU on a weeknight instead of a weekend. Just not conducive to filling arenas.03-banghead

This is part of an exempt tournament, so we may have had limited ability to schedule game times. I never would have believed the hogs would get the prime afternoon game slot on CBS. Only happened because the rest of the SEC schedule is a total joke. Only other game which should be competitive is Mizzou at Tenn, and I guess CBS went with the highest ranked team (Ole Miss) not playing a compete "give me" type of game. Could we have moved our tournament game to noon or 7 pm, after the hogs game time was announced? I tend to doubt it, but even if we could have it would have looked extremely "bush league" to do so. Still, to be honest I wish we would have. We have never drawn for afternoon games, but for some reason have scheduled a bunch of them this season. I guess we can still blame Chris for that, but we could have changed some of them- ex. UCA next Saturday afternoon.

It is second hand, and granted it is a little bit of a stretch, but the Roos' win over Missouri is still in the minds of people who seriously follow college basketball. So, if we should beat them, it would not be a big feather in our cap, but a little one. We beat the team that beat Missouri. And that played Kansas tough, for that matter. In other words, this is one we really need to win.

We could start 6'10" (Gus), 6'9" (James) and 6'8" (Mariek). The question is can those guys play?04-cheers
