Woman's team in black face?
A group of students at Sullivan High School (Mo.) wore blackface for their Nov. 5 powderpuff football game. That's bad enough. The quote from school principal Jennifer Schmidt, who described her reaction after seeing the blackface, makes it worse. From the Riverfront Times:

"And then I thought, 'Oh, they don't mean anything by it. Just let it go. No one thinks anything of it.' I didn't think anyone did," says Schmidt, the principal of Sullivan High School. "Evidently, someone did."

I've seen many players use the black eye paint for this.. The girls very easily could've been doing that and messed up and decided to go black face. I don't think it's a racial thing..

Good Lord. Can anybody white do ANY F*CKING THING without it being linked to racism?

And fit, I don't know where you stand on this story, but you've been trumping Brown up as a kid and said that kids do stupid things.

We need to end this discrimination on white people.

I highly doubt this was race related. Nothing to see here.

I'd say the principal is using good judgment in not punishing them.

Okay Fit, now that we have "someone" that didn't like it, what is YOUR suggested punishment? Fire the principal and expel the students for the remainder of the year? Nah, not harsh enough - how about behead the principal and stone the students? Yep, that's about right for your "pound of flesh".

Me, for such an egregious action - I think they should have been dragged off the field immediately and had their faces scrubbed clean with steel wool - but I'm much more lenient that you.....................

RE: Woman's team in black face?
More from the article....

Quote:Schmidt adds that it's been common practice for the senior girls' team to wear face paint during the powderpuff football tournament, essentially as a parody of the eye black football players normally wear to decrease glare from the sun and lights. The face paint also serves to "to intimidate the underclassmen."

According to Schmidt, in previous years the girls have wore combinations of the schools' colors — black and gold. But when the senior girls arrived prior to the November 5 game, they discovered everyone had brought the same color face paint — black.

"So that's what they wore," says Schmidt. "There was nothing racial about it. They didn't have any other intention other than to just try to intimidate the underclassmen."

So how does the school respond....Probably will ban all face painting.

AWESOME!

Well at least we know where three of them were born... LA, Texas, and Mexico. None of the rest have a known place of birth. What does that tell ya.

It tells me that you don't know much about Texas. But, does this look like an illegal alien to you? Some of these guys are obviously from Mexico - probably around half or slightly more, but El Paso is a border town, too. You can't assume that everyone with a hispanic name is from Mexico, or that his parents or grandparents were, either. The family of some of these guys have probably been in the US longer than the family of a good number of posters here. It's pretty absurd to think that most illegal aliens are criminals or that we would not have a criminal problem here without illegal immigration.

Where?

Information received indicates the Calzada may be traveling & could be taking advantage of the open border between Hudspeth County, Texas and Dona Ana County, New Mexico as he crosses back and forth into Mexico.

I understand the point people like bud are trying to make, but I just find it impossible that you could throw a stick anywhere in this country and not come across ONE person who would object if there were an intent to 'demean' black people. I don't care WHERE you are in this country, there would be ONE objector. Similarly, if there WERE an intent to demean, there would be ONE who was far more openly overt about it... wearing a klan sticker or a 'I hate black people' shirt or page after page of racist rants on social media or something else like that

I don't know why they did it. I don't know what their thought process was that ended up 'here'. I just can't imagine that a group of people like this INTENDED to offend and yet avoided being even more obvious about it.

And no, you can't be unintentionally racist. You CAN be unintentionally offensive, but not unintentionally racist. Racism is an intent.

Of course these kids didn't intend to offend anyone by doing this. It was a mistake.

Their parents probably should have known better and said something.

Someone should have known better and said something.

All in all however, the fact that these kids didn't know that it was racist is actually a good thing.

Their parents were probably wondering who the first idiot would be that would relate this to making fun of blacks, which in and of itself isn't even racist. There is absolutely, positively, nothing about this photo that you can say is racist.
