just tuned into wjox....Bentley statement?
Did Bentley make a new statement besides the attendance statement?
If so, does anyone have a link to this statement he made?

Who was it that said it's better to be thought of as a fool than to open one's mouth & erase all doubt? Someone should have told bentley this...

Not that I am aware of.

The Zone emphasized last night how he said it was up to the BOT.

Those on the Zone thought it should be up to Watts.

Yet, the "scarecrow" IS on the BOT in some capacity, is he not?

The Opening Drive is defending us pretty vehemently right now against some idiots who are up early in the trailer park

Bentley didn't say anything new and idiots would still be sleeping off their crank high at this hour if you hadn't made a point of poking them with a stick.

The Zone seemed to have a longer clip than what ABC 33/40 showed of Bentley talking.

The clip on The Zone had Bentley saying something like "you have to have a certain amount of attendance to even stay at a Division I level" with a smirk on his face.

First of all, slow your roll anime. I made this post AFTER it was mentioned on wjox and a caller brought it up.
Second, whether if anyone poked a stick or not with coach Clark being on and the game on Saturday, tge idiots were gonna be riked up regardless.

I know you seem upset about all the attention distracting the players, but redirect that in a different direction. My intent was trying to find out and get the right info.

Pandora's box is open. We don't need to censor ourselves. A calm message board is not going to undistract the team.

What they focused on him saying was that the Board would decide the fate of UAB football, when the fig leaf all along has been that Watts had commissioned the study. Once the study gave him the data he needed, he would decide and go to the Board.

The Gov accidentally let it out that they were doing their master's bidding.

Well, you're right. Not at this point anyway.

And rook, I wasn't calling you out so much as noting that the zone is overplaying their one card on this (prob for ratings). I assume the caller this morning was referencing last night's zone which was apparently trying to get another five star dinner out of leftovers.

I don't know why you seem unhappy with the Zone. Yes, they haven't always been good to us, but right now, they are beating the drum in the public eye. And that is having a positive effect on us.

They may come across to some as "double agents" of the Birmingham sports world, but right now, they're the UAB side of the fence, and they're raising "The People's Eyebrows."...The Lord works in mysterious ways, right? I say go with it...;-)

I'm the one that made the phone call into JOX. I called in right after Coach Clark was on and I have offered Gov. Bentley a ticket and a coke. I doubt I get a response from Montgomery.

I was infuriated when I heard the governor speak about this situation the other day and yes, I am going to chime in whenever I get an opportunity to make sure people know what is going on from Montgomery to Tuscaloosa.

The day to day operations are outside the scope of the board. If the board (including the governor) is involved in orchestrating this current situation then SACS has every right to step in. This is what Auburn got hammered for a few years back

I was attending Auburn during that time. If the events then were enough to earn probation, the System may find itself looking down a similar barrel. But that raises two questions.

One, what triggers an investigation? I understand that a formal complaint process has to be followed by the public. However, what I'm unsure of is what threshold has to be met before SACS investigates on its own volition.

Second, against which entity would the complaint be filed? To take it a step further, which institution would be placed on probation if it were determined that the Board is in violation? Surely, it would not be UAT (unless, of course, something was revealed during the investigation that warranted the probation).

If UAB were placed on probation as an unintended consequence, a SACS investigation would amount to nothing more than a crippling, Pyrrhic victory.

Perhaps, I'm missing something. Are there other ways SACS could hold the Board's feet to the fire?

That's a great question and above my pay grade. My guess is that it has to originate internally within the university
