We certainly sucked tonight. Four turnovers usually means you lose. Some odd coaching decisions on both sides. BG has an awesome receiver in that freshman. Now if they'd play a QB who could hit the ocean from a life raft we'd be talking a different story. Good game again.

Not sure if the blocked EP counts officially but since there was a change of possession that gave them a chance to score I'm counting it.

When I agree by saying we suck - it has nothing to do with our players. We have players that have more talent top to bottom than any other MAC team - that I can say with confidence. We do not have a strong QB situation, so that knocks down the effectiveness of that talent. The rest is pure coaching issues. I don't have an issue with Campbell - yet. But if he does not make some significant changes at the OC and DC levels (at a minimum) he is going to set this program back more than a few years. I could easily list the issues from top to bottom and it would not be a baseless rant. But when you can sit in a BDubs and successfully call nearly 40% of the plays based on the formations and situations, just imagine what a coach can do that has studied game films prior to the game.

We won tonight because of the talent we have. They overcame our weaknesses that seems intent on putting us in the worst possible situations to see if we can overcome them.

How the hell we won this game baffles me. It helps that BG could not complete passes when the receivers consistently got behind our safeties. We turn the ball over constantly and cannot force turnovers - all. season.long.

Suffice it to say, if I were in MOB's shoes, I would be looking for replacements now -all the way to the head coach. At a minimum, I would have his a$$ in my office and chewing on it while he tried to explain the rationale for some of those play calls. Based on the answers, I would make my decision to make a change and cut the losses before this gets worse.

While I hope it is still an issue of learning - my instinct tells me the problem is not that simple. I can easily name 5 decisions that could have been made before the ball was snapped. In seems like we have no idea what the other team is going to throw against us, but I felt like I knew what was coming on every plan since the middle of the 3rd period.

I would love to be wrong about this - and I hope I am.


I will be at EMU next week and following the results of my new next favorite team - the horse rowers.

I don't think motorocket is out of touch regarding the play calling and our predictability and execution. I also agree that MOB doesn't ream Campbell a new one after beating BG, being bowl eligible and only losing to niu buy one score. It puts MOB in a tough situation to fix what many of us see on the field each week.

Kareem Hunt could have broken Melvin Gordon's rushing yards record by 100 yards tonight but we were too preoccupied with trying to throw wind blown screen passes and downfield patterns into double coverage with 10 point leads. I can't defend the play calling tonight. I just can't. Well, the 4th quarter was well played, for the most part. And we won. But other than that, I got nothin'.

I look at it the same way I do in the business environment. Poor processes are covered up by opportunistic results that do not reveal issues that are looming. You have to dig into the metrics to find out the causes of failures. If you fail to manage those results, then you are doomed to fail. You can ream somebody while also congratulating them on successes -and the staff has a lot of successes. It's about development or change. If MOB doesn't see the shortcomings and issues, then he is doomed to fail. Unlike others, I have not been all that impressed with MOB in a number of areas. In many other areas, he has done very well.

It comes down to championships and fulfilling a vision - which may or may not exist - I have no idea what the situation is.

Did anyone see BG putting 9 men in the box at times? When that happens you take a shot outside or long. How come no one is complaining about the 2-3 bubbles/hitches that worked well tonight. I am not smart enough to dissect every play that doesn't work because I have not been at every practice since last spring and I have not watched 100's of hours of film on both the Rockets and opponents. JUST WIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to stop by to congratulate the Rockets, again. As sloppy as both teams played, I thought the game was at least entertaining. I think fans on both sides are going a bit overboard about the sloppiness, as the weather was the obviously culprit in most cases (especially the terrible throws and missed catches). A few things:
1. Your O-Line is awesome. Hunt is great, but it was the line, I thought, that was the MVP(s).
2. Hunt is a f**king man.
3. Hunt, man. Sh*t.
4. I truly hope you win the West and we can meet again in the MACC, indoors, hopefully each team much healthier, because the way each team is built, a game in Detroit could lead to a much different result. I don't mean to say that BG will win, I honestly don't know. Rather, I can see it being a very high-scoring, much cleaner game, which would represent the MAC well. On the BG side alone, the addition of Green and Coppet at RB totally redefines the offense available tonight. I think Green could have gone tonight, but was smartly held out with the weather and East wrapped up. Plus, hopefully Babers goes with Calloway at QB the rest of the way and he's able to get some seasoning with the first-team offense before Detroit. And I know UT's got some health issues, and hopefully those can be cleared up.
5. Hunt.

Again, congrats. Toledo played like they expected to win, did, and deserved it.

The west's 4th place team has the same record as BG. Is there any way the conf can just appoint two west teams to the championship game on simple principle.

However, the MAC is very weak this year, I don't think any of the teams are good, including Toledo.

When two teams play, one of those teams will win the game, one will lose. Toledo was lucky to win all 4 of those games.

There is a reason that everyone is complaining, because we all see what is going on. The Toledo team from 2-3 years ago would probably have 2 losses and be winning MAC games by 3+ scores. There is a standard that we, as fans, expect here in Toledo. To knowledgeable fans, we are completely below that standard.

Of course we set standards as fans and season ticket holders. There are definitely play calling issues and on field issues that need to be addressed, but at the end of the day...

UT's beaten BG 5 straight years. This is an incredible feat, especially since BG isn't a lame duck, they're the defending champs.

UT's 6-1 with a 3 point loss at the perennial MAC west winner.

I think I'm more upset that we didn't show up to some of the OOC games and weren't able to take the NIU game but when we started 1-2, I couldn't imagine Rockets would be 7-4 heading to EMU.

Not everyone is complaining and saying "To knowledgeable fans" implies that anyone who disagrees


with younisn't knowledgeable. I know several who are coaches at some level or former UT players who are OK w the coaching. Are they not knowledgeable? Lastly, Toledo was lucky to win four games against the top five teams? Amazing "luck". But then I'm not very knowledgeable. ;-)

OK, I'll give you that. Perhaps I should have worded that differently, how about this:
"to a casual fan that sees only the record, this team looks good."

With that said, do you think this team and coaching meet the established standard that fans have come to expect from a Toledo Football team?

I've been following the team a long time, as have most of you on this board. I've been a diehard fan (as are all of you) and I make it to a few games even though I live 1,300 miles away. When you lose the support of RangerRocket and myself, there is a problem with the program.
