And to think, just weeks ago, we were praying just to be bowl eligible by seasons end. Instead, we are staring at something much bigger.

To even be mentioned by the playoff committee at all, with a team mostly comprised of two-star players, is mind-blowing.

If there's any justice at all, Fuente will at least appear on the ballot for national coach of the year. What he's accomplished with this football program in three years defies logic.

It is great to be relevant. I was surprised and pleased to hear the announcers talk about this during the Tulane game.

We can play our way in, and it gives us much more to play for next year.

The main point of the article is that it's amazing memphis is even being discussed regarding playoffs and that Marshall has a good record but terrible SoS.

Talks about very unlikely (but still possible) scenario where memphis makes it in - we have to win out and then dominos have to fall just right.

Quote from Jeff Long, committee member, (re: Marshall):

"Marshall’s body of work, their strength of schedule and what they’ve done, at this time the committee does not feel it warrants them being ranked in the top 25. They are very close. We’ve talked a lot about Marshall. We’ve talked about Boise State, Colorado State, Memphis and Northern Illinois – all Group of 5 teams that are good teams.”

Basically just reiterates that AAC is a non-contract conference and then hits on the rules regarding non contract conferences - one champion is given a slot in the playoffs.

Bottom line: It's jaw dropping to consider that we are mentioned given where we were a few years ago - even the biggest fans would not have believed it had they been told this would happen a few years back.

What has always amazed me is the prevailing lack of pride and defeatist mentality in our community toward Tiger football. When ENOUGH people BELIEVE and WANT it ENOUGH, major success can be achieved here in all sports and, most important, academics.

I'd like to think the committee would give us a serious look if we were to end the season with a 9-3 record. However, if Boise ends up 10-2, I believe the committee will give the Broncos the Go5 slot if for no other reason than their recent success makes them a bigger television draw...and, as we all know, it's all about the Benjamins.

I've held season tickets since the day I graduated, but there is plenty of of blame to go around besides just the fans. Our last athletic department administration and president are also culpable.

Anyway, who cares? I'm enjoying the ride and can't wait until Saturday.

There's PLENTY of room on the bandwagon for all.

GA you know I have nothing but respect for you as a Tiger fan. I just don't think we will ever see the day when these fans do more than talk. They asked for Johnson to gone he is ,they asked for money to be put into football it is, they asked for a winning football team they are. Here we are and they still don't get off thier sorry a$$ and make it to LBS. Fans of teams around here dive 4,5,7 hours te see games . Our fans complain they need an OCS . They will always have an excuse it's what they do best and why we will always be third rate.
