Did you see these 3 stories?
Links, news and rumors - 11/19/14
From an ACC official release:
Quote:The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today three student-athlete representatives from its member institutions who will hold voting power on proposed governance rule changes under the NCAA’s recently-adopted Division I autonomy process.

Clemson redshirt junior Patrick Andrews (baseball), Notre Dame senior Kaila Barber (track and field) and Pitt redshirt junior Artie Rowell (football) will represent the ACC as part of the NCAA’s mission to “engage and empower student-athletes by giving them both a voice and vote within a transparent decision-making process.”
I'm definitely glad to see a football player is in the mix.
__________

Not convinced that the SEC protects its weaker teams from embarrassment? Check out this report from NBC Sports College Football Talk:
Quote:Citing a pair of sources close to the situation, Chip Brown of HornsDigest.com is reporting that an A&M-UT bowl game this year will not happen because “apparently the Aggies – or perhaps the SEC on the Aggies’ behalf – [will make] sure there will be no postseason matchup of two of college football’s most bitter divorcees.” Per the report, the SEC has made it clear to bowl games with SEC-Big 12 tie-ins that the conference “won’t support a Texas vs Texas A&M postseason matchup” because, Brown writes, “A&M has too much to lose from a potential loss.”
Note the statement in bold - "A&M has too much to lose from a potential loss." Next time someone cites the SEC's OOC or bowl win% as proof of how dominant that conference is, remember that one statement... or this one (same article):
Quote:...the SEC has the ability to place teams in whichever bowl it wants. If it sees the potential for damage to its brand or one of its members, it can nix the matchup.
Yeah, SEC teams play anyone, anywhere, anytime - as long as they are pretty sure they'll win, that is.
__________

Finally, someone at ESPN has come out in defense of Florida State in this article: Why Florida State is Still No. 1, and it's not even written by one of the ACC bloggers! The author of the article is Gene Wojciechowski, a Senior National Columnist for ESPN.com, and a Senior Writer for ESPN The Magazine.

All I can say is - it's about time!

What about the espn story saying the alleged Winston memorabilia was denied authentication by one of the major authentication companies because they were unable to verify he actually signed the items?

I took it to mean that Jameis wasn't even involved, but some unscrupulous people were trying to sell fake memorabilia and pass it off as authentic. Am I wrong?

The authenticator (the website where espn found all the sequentially listed items) certainly has questionable professionalism, if you will. I've posted stories to support that on here before.

As for your question, I don't know. Perhaps. Per the story, nobody saw Winston with the alleged items, let alone sign any of them. Make of that what you will.
