Should He Stay or Should He Go Now
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/colleg...01934.html

MICHIGAN: The wildcard name here is Al Golden. He’s on his third athletic director at Miami. Instead of praise from the fan base for enduring the Nevin Shapiro-induced NCAA nuclear winter, he has airplane flyovers calling for his dismissal and former Miami players ripping him on Twitter. His tie-on-the-sideline image would fly much better in Ann Arbor than in Coral Gables.
-- sports illustrated

Virginia: The first name would be Golden, who served as a graduate assistant (1994-96) and a defensive coordinator (2001-05). While it would be a step back from Miami, it may be a better cultural fit for Golden to go somewhere he’s embraced.
-- sports illustrated

SI floating Al Golden as a "wild card" at #Michigan. I think he is more of a wildcard potentially at #UVA.
-- Bruce Feldman @BruceFeldmanCFB

I think Rutgers opens the vault for Al Golden.
-- canesport.com publisher Gary Ferman

Kirk Herbstreit implored impatient Hurricanes fans to “just chill’’ about coach Al Golden and his staff. He said the “Fire Al Golden’’ banner that flew before the Oct.11 Cincinnati game and the notion that a vocal segment of fans believe Golden should be on the hot seat or even fired is “ridiculous.’’

“They’re out of their minds even bringing it up,’’ Herbstreit said. “They’re lucky to have Al Golden as a head coach."

"Miami is so close. And I think anybody that doesn’t recognize that just doesn’t watch the game or maybe know the game.’’

Golden, who is 28-19 since arriving at UM in 2011, has yet to defeat a team that finished the season with more than eight wins.

RE: Coaching Carousel
I hope Al Golden doesn't go to UVA. He's way to good of a coach and too good of a fit for UVA.

What is the proof that Al Golden is a good coach? I know he inherited problems but he's had a ton of talent at Miami and done almost nothing with it.

This is Al Golden's 4th year....I don't think he's the BEST coach, but he's a decent one

I agree with Herbstreit.....Miami seems to be on the cusp. You've got to hit the right year at the right time, and you'll shoot into the top 10.

Unless Miami has an idea of a replacement lined up, I'd say keep Golden

Al Golden is now 28-20 overall at UM (Randy Shannon was 28-22, by comparison) and 16-15 in the ACC.

Against teams from the power five conferences, UM is 18-19 under Golden.

RE: Should He Stay or Should He Go Now
Fans get too worked up too quickly about coaches who "should" be fired. Golden needs more time. I think Miami is on the cusp from watching them myself. It takes time to put everything together.

Pitt is another example. People are calling for Chryst to be fired. How quickly they forgot that all the coaching changes is what got us into the hot mess we're in right now to begin with. Pitt doesn't have nearly Miami's talent level at this point, but it's a similar situation. I think given enough time, Golden will win in Miami and I think the time is coming.

I see nothing wrong with Al Golden. Good recruiter, Good play caller, has Good standards. I say Miami is very close to returning to a national powerhouse under Him. I think the next 2 years will say a lot. Miami just needs stability in coaching retention to get there.

in 4 YEARS has NEVER beaten a team that finished a season ranked in the top 25. Again I repeat it's been 4 years.

Regardless of how this season ends, the University of Miami indicated this week that it wants Al Golden to remain the Hurricanes’ football coach, which isn’t a surprise but should end any speculation about the matter. Asked this week whether Golden will return as coach next season, UM athletic director Blake James made clear he will.

“Al is our coach and will continue to be our coach,” James said.

With Golden under contract through Feb. 1, 2020, the only way he does not return next season is if he decides to leave for another job, which would be surprising.
