Queen of Jordan Speaks About ISIS
http://7daysindubai.com/extremists-hijac...ia-summit/

I'm sure she'll ultimately be ignored, but it is a nice read.

Quote:“Well, our silence speaks volumes. We are complicit in their success. If ever there was a time to tap into that indignation… it is now.

Quote:“Our strategy must be long-term. And that starts by investing in quality education for all…

“And let me emphasise one point. When I said, ‘quality education for all’, I meant girls as well as boys. Because educated girls strengthen their nations’ economies… they prioritise the health and education of their own children… and they help to build stable societies more resilient to radicalisation. Why else would Boko Haram, the Taliban and ISIS be so afraid of girls with books?

“Education reform doesn’t come cheap. But the price of ignorance is far, far greater.”

She was born in Kuwait.

I'd put a little American in her though. 02-13-banana

Right - Queen Noor, who was married to Hussein and is step-mother to the current king, Abdullah. Noor's father was Syrian and her mother was an American of Swedish descent, but she grew up in the US.

Rania's parents are Palestinian, but she grew up in Kuwait.

Both are stunning.

She's 44!!!!! I know photos can be touched up to make you look better than you actually do, but damn she still looks better than most 44 year old celebrities I see that are getting the same treatment.

Must be the hot dry air.

Curious to know if the Queen was speaking in English or not. Many national/political leaders from that part of the world have one "message" in English for Western audiences/media, and then a very different message while speaking in Arabic or some other non-Western language.

Also curious to know if she called out ISIS (or some similar group) specifically by name, or merely spoke against unidentified "extremists" or something like that.

The Jordanian leadership has generally been consistent and moderate. I think they are just as repressive as their peers in the region - especially towards Islamists, but I don't see a lot of mixed messages coming from Jordan.

I basically agree with that. Even so, I'm reminded of a phrase oft-used by Reagan: "Trust, but verify."
