RE: Sam Hunt on letterman Monday
I'm really proud of and happy for Sam Hunt. Would love to see his name attached to the football foundation.

Would you guys say Sam Hunt is the most famous former UAB athlete who is famous nationally for something not athletically related. I can't even think of anyone else.

More Americans can tell you who Sam Hunt is than they know the astronaut

Sorry. Reading comprehension problem again.

Vonetta Flowers was known for another accomplishment as an athlete than that which she went to school for. I know she would still be considered an athlete though.

Does oldragon count? Or maybe Walt Maddox? on a local/state level.

I would say Roddy White is the most famous athlete of all.

As for as for nonathletic celebrity, didn't Walt Maddox get a bump of national celebrity after the tornados

Was Vonetta on a Leno or letterman style talk show after the Olympics. Frankly I am impressed Sam is debuting on Letterman. That's straight to the A list.

I don't like country music but I reaaly like his album. Ironically the knock on him in the reviews I've seen is he isn't real country.

Good for him. He might actually make some good money, then.

Even though it is Ole Miss, it is still considered athletics.

Yes, Vonetta was on several shows.

Sam's music is music & should not be labeled as anything specifically.

I agree. I hate labels in music. I do enjoy more "country" artists than in any other music format. Sam gets a lot of air play on The Highway on Sirus XM.

I pinned an article about his qb career on Pinterest. I couldnt believe how often that was repinned. He is really big now, which explains letterman.

Somebody mentioned GMac, which is why I mentioned Kennedy. He didn't become famous as an athlete, he became famous as a coach.
