RE: Buffalo game
I would think the NCAA may grant Buffalo a waiver if they get to 5 wins and allow them to play in a bowl.

They have 2 wins over Non-FBS competition. They can't get a bowl.

We lose all tiebreakers.

NIU must win at WMU.

They can if there is a shortage of bowl teams and UB applys for a waiver. They would then get in before GA So who is in a transition year or one of those top 5 APR teams that are 5-7 (maybe Northwestern).

^ This.

The ONLY tiebreaker we win is a 2-way with Toledo. That can only happen with us winning against WMU and Toledo beating EMU.

If we lose to WMU and Toledo were to lose to the emus, we'd be in either a 3-way or 4-way tie. Because of our loss to CMU, we would lose either of those tiebreakers.

Edit: WMU could also win the MAC-West outright by beating CMU and NIU AND with a Toledo loss to EMU.

No, it was not. Buffalo is sitting at 4-6 with (now) only one game to play and unable to reach bowl eligibility. Sucks for those kids and program to not get the extra practice and bowl trip had they won their final two games.

There is no way they would be playing that game the day of the MACC or day after. Would be pointless as someone else mentioned they played two FCS schools.

...and even at 6-6 with 2 FCS wins they would be eligible after all other 6-6 teams were selected who had 0 or 1 win vs a FCS team.

So they would be bowl eligible before a 5-7 NU (top 5 APR) or a 8-2 Georgia Southern (currently in FCS to FBS transition).

Lets be honest. Does a team with two FCS wins deserve a bowl? I would rather have them be sitting at home than embarrassed on TV.

I don't think the work "deserves" is the right word. The 2012 NIU team did not deserve the Orange Bowl bid but they earned it under the rules that were in place at the time.

If Buffalo were to play 2 more games and win those two games then they will have earned being bowl eligible without a waiver under the current NCAA rules. If that were to happen then they would have the opportunity to possibly be selected to a bowl game. It should not be up to the MAC to remove that opportunity since they have done nothing wrong.

Yep. With a game missed on top of that, if they're 5-6 -- there's no way they'd allow them in.
