I assume that is the preferred scenario for us for a couple of reasons:
1.) It keeps SMU on the opposite side of the bracket of us.
2.) We beat SMU twice and Tulsa only once, so the RPI bump will benefit us more with the SMU win.

Id agree. Tulsa on neutral court is good matchup. Beating a really good SMU 3x is a tall order.

If OSU loses UC should move to 34. OSU projected down to 41. They'd be 1-7 against top 50. With terrible OOC scheduling. Too bad committee won't make them pay (they do "pay" but I meant make them miss NCAA).

Lets Lil' Penny them and smoke them in the finals and then in the Elite 8 for a 4 timer.

With UC, ohio state , Xavier and Dayton all lingering around the 7-10 seeds, there's a decent chance two of these will be playing each other in the tourney.

That would work! Good plan.

Not Xavier vs. Cincinnati, as they avoid regular season rematches.
Don't forget about Kentucky in R2.

I've said all year...O$U is overrated. They have zero inside game on either end of the court. Ellis/Clark would hurt them.
All O$U has is 3pt shooting and some defense. Neither is spectacular. Not sure who is on the team but it seems like every year Thad has a top 10 class full of five star kids. Calling it honestly I assume they are underperforming vs the expectations.
I've seen them play bits and pieces in multiple games this year and the one word that comes to mind is -underwhelming. If we drew them I would be thrilled.

Everyone seems sure Ohio State is in the tournament and they probably are, but that resume is really weak. Would not be at all surprised to see them in Dayton on Tuesday or Wednesday night and I wouldn't be shocked if they were left out completely. They are really lacking in quality wins, have done nothing away from home and scheduled poorly in the nonconference. Committee has tradition killed teams for that. I think most bracket predictions have had them too high for a while now.

Generally I prefer to avoid teams that have a much stronger statistical profile than resume, but Ohio State is definitely an exception to that rule.
They simply have not been particularly impressive against teams that are in the top 70-80 in the country. 6 of their 11 Big 10 wins came against Penn State, Northwestern, Michigan, Nebraska and Rutgers, all of which are somewhere between mediocre and miserable. I think they have managed to fool KenPom's system by destroying bad teams because they haven't cut it against the meat of their schedule.

Thank you Mark, I have been saying this for the last few weeks. Poor road record, poor non-conference SOS, and a poor record versus the top 50 raises major red flags. If I was on the committee, Ohio State would need at least two conference tournaments wins to earn themselves a spot in the dance. We already know they can beat bad teams, I want to see them beat another tournament contender on a neutral site. If any other non brand name Big Ten team had their resume nobody would have them anywhere close to locking up a bid.
The other OSU, Oklahoma State, is another supposed lock that is in deep trouble. Losing 5 out their last 6 wouldn't be cause for concern in the Big XII until you realize that includes losses to TCU and Texas Tech. Right now the Cowboys are around the play-in game based on their total body of work but I advise them to win a conference tournament game.

I think another factor that helps OSU is having Jamarcus Russell. He is being talked about as a potential #1 pick and a lock for one of the top 3 picks in the draft. He is also going to be a 1st team AA. They are going to draw a lot of viewers just because of that.

Only those cheaters in Columbus could get Jamarcus Russell another year of eligibility.
