Dissappointed
After sleeping on the situation we witnessed yesterday this is my opinion.

I hope it's not too harsh for some of you.

Hopefully Wolo has voiced his opinion. Maybe move the free throw line to 12 feet from the basket as he sees it?

You should drown your sorrows in leftover pizza, raviolis, and Mig Lite.

Such a thoughtful idea. I still have my parking pass too.

RE: Dissappointed
Here's my positive take:

Memphis has really good players in Austin and Nick.

Shaq, while occasionally falling into fouling issues, will no do that on a consistent basis. We can assume he will play more in the 1st half than today.

So, if those three guys are in the mix, Memphis will almost always have the more talented frontcourt vs. whomever they play.

The rest of these guys: I dunno. I have said time and time again to NEVER have expectations from guys who have never played a lick of D1 ball. After about 10 games, they will be who they are.

Kedren. Ooof. Hopefully that was an aberration, but I wasn't hopeful.

However, the coach HAS to know what the weaknesses are of this team and try to mask them accordingly. It did not appear that the weakness (guard play) was masked in any matter whatsoever.

RE: Dissappointed
Right now the weaknesses are generally guard play and outside shooting. Unless we just totally outman a team they will be able to pack the paint and neutralize Shaq and Austin.

Now, IF we can find a point guard to run this team that will help a lot. We could go from bad to good in a hurry. Find a couple of outside shooters and then we could go from good to very good / great.

That's A LOT of ifs. Generally, when you have A LOT of ifs you don't end up being very good because you can't answer all of them and opponents are going to know and exploit your weaknesses.

How Memphis plays against Baylor's zone will answer some questions.

I hope that coach uses the game play vs. Prairie View to run an offense that is designed to combat a zone, regardless of what PV throws out there.

Though, if I were a coach playing Memphis, I would trap and then fall back into a zone. Hopefully PV does some of that to give the Tigers some prep for Baylor.

Yes, even a team like PV should be able to run a zone press. I hope they do not only for Baylor prep but just to keep our guards under pressure. The more they see it and play against it the better they will become and handling it.
