Well we didn't lose by 30.
Either BYU is one of the best teams in the country, or our defense is the worst I've ever seen from a Steve Shields team. They were getting uncontested layups all night long.

After seeing our Lady Trojans play tonight, and then the men, once again there is no comparison. Joe Foley finds players, some who are not extremely skilled, but the are tough as nails, and play a swarming defense. Very seldom do you see them give up a completely unguarded layup.

Roger Woods showed why he could be an All SBC player. He was one who manned up. Good to see Marius back on the floor. I think he'll help us. I was disappointed in what I saw from James White. He didn't look like an NBA player tonight. I think we'll be allright, but tonight's game showed me we have a lot of work to do if we're going to compete for the SBC title. I'm not surprised we lost. I'm disappointed in how bad we looked. We looked like a DII team against BYU. When is the last time we beat a team from a good conference? It's been longer than I can remember. Not much to be positive about tonight's performance.03-hissyfit

BYU was a 10 seed in last year's NCAA tournament and has just about everybody back. So they are a Top 30 team this season. They are by far the best team we will play this year and the biggest crowd we will see all season. GaSt lost just as bad to a team very comparable to BYU. We'll be fine against Sun Belt competition. I am interested to see how we will do against good, but not great, out of conference teams like UMKC (who won at Missouri and kept it close at KState), Samford, Tulsa (who beat ULL by 11), and Missouri State (picked 3rd in the MoValley). Those teams are closer to our level, although I'm not sure how many we beat based on tonight. I do think Roger Woods will be a tough matchup for any Sun Belt team.

Don't know much about them, considering their whole team and coach is new, but it should be a great game.

I suspect some will consider this racist, but those white boys could play basketball pretty good.

Actual talent and a good coach will do that.

Correct if 6'11" can play. We've had several that tall and maybe an inch taller than couldn't. That's probably why we got them. And it takes a lot of food to feed guys that big. They ate good while here and we got practically nothing out of them on the court. But, wherever they went when we dropped them, I guess those schools appreciated us "fattening" them up.

Neighbour and Javes would have helped a great deal last night. Our bigs have had value. 6-5 power forwards do not.

There just is not enough on this team to over come the size, talent and coaching gap playing top tier bb teams.

Lets see what we do against conway. Thats a team on our level.

Finally, a rational comment on the UALR board. I actually thought we had a chance to beat BYU, but I admit I get delusional once or twice a season. But, I quickly snap out of it when reality slaps me in the face (i.e. second half of the BYU game).

If they're on our level, that should tell you something about the state of our program, and that we've gone practically nowhere for the past twelve years. A team that's only be D-1 for a few years, and they're on our level, when we've been D-1 for thirty years or so. Looks like we've been up **** creek without a paddle for the past twelve years.

For the most part, Southland teams are not much different than Sun Belt teams. With UCA in particular, I have no idea how they matchup since they are a completely new team with a new coach. Sounded like he had good qualifications when they hired him and I think he has signed some good players. I expect to beat them (that's the fan in me talking), but I would think it will be a competitive game.
