He wouldn't have said what he did if he thought the man sucked ballz..

Furthermore we kicked their a55 twice last year, and crushed them in the final 5 minutes of each game.

Actually, that raises even more questions about Josh's coaching.

A better team is the issue. Josh makes 2.65 and delivers this kind of product. Now we have to cower to programs like Wichita State. Sad

No athletes, no shooters, no chemistry, no offense, no defense, no leader, no discipline, no clue.

I would say all we have are athletes.

Not sure about that. I keep hearing we look slow at the guard spot. I thought we looked ok from my 20 minutes at looking at them.

We would score everytime down the floor because Stammers would have the other team pissed off and they couldn't think straight and there probably would be a few players ejected..

Honestly, think about our 2008 National Runner Up team (that didn't really happen). That team lost 2 games. Had we returned everyone but DRose the following year you don't think we would have drilled an unranked team like we are currently?

If not, you are stoned. So again I ask. What the hell did you expect?

Most people on here expect a final four every year because they became 'fans' during Cal's big 4 year run. A dose of reality hasn't been good for them. And they are probably the ones who were standing in Cal's front yard with signs begging him not to leave.

RE: What the hell did you expect?
Getting back to the original question, I didn't know what to expect, actually. Hoped for a better result, but not surprised by the one we got. One exhibition game, lots of new pieces to the puzzle, and playing a good opponent. Pretty tough to expect much from that.

Still, I thought the Tigers showed flashes of good defense, and with Shaq strapped with two early fouls, they still hung in there for much of the game. The guards made me nervous as hell, though. Way too many turnovers with the potential for more, and every possession on the perimeter was a white-knuckle experience.

Not exactly the YouTube videos I saw of some of these guys, but it's much too early to know how this group will respond. I believe they'll find themselves and continue to improve. Time will tell.

I expected Shaq to be much better.

Fouling 80 feet away from the basket.

Letting Cotton posterize him.

I'd put him on the bench and play someone with some fire in their belly.

WSU finished #7 and lost one game last year. They will be ranked in the top 10 when the new poll comes out. You seem to have difficulty grasping the fact that they are an elite program right now. There certainly isn't any shame cowering to them; everyone else is.

Shaq only seems to worry about fouling after he has one in the first half or three in the second half. He has to realize that the cheap fouls count and add up. I'm not so worried about Cotton dunking on him, because Cotton had a running start and Shaq had a 5% chance of not fouling him.

He didn't want to pick up his 3rd so that is understandable. The problem as you said, is that he picks up a couple of cheap, not so smart fouls in many games.

What I'm saying is someone, if not Shaq then someone else, has to set the tone for the defense and the paint.

I understand the game was still close then and not wanting to pick up a foul, so it is murky water, but Dorsey would've put the guy on his butt.

You just can't have players, especially guards, thinking they can get to the rim with ease.

Just can't.

Only at Memphis would a guard drag a pivot foot in a season opener.

You're alright, kid.
