Rankings
i can live with marshall not being ranked, thats fine, i think the committe was well aware that the first year would set the precedent for future years on the aspect of scheduling, so i can live with marshall not getting ranked

but colorado state???

they had 2 P5 one of them is decent and coloroda is alot better than its record...
they only have 1 loss and they are not even ranked???? minnesota lost a game and still didnt lose a spot in rankings

who has minnesota beat that they deserve to be ranked ahead of a 1 loss CSU, this is clearly an insult to the G5, Clemson and CSU basically have the same quality wins but with 2 less losses...

i like to root against the othe G4 as much as possible but this is an insult to us all....

id be curious their opinion on the american as to if they group us with the other G5 or put us on some middling level between both groups....Long (the committee chair) basically said they considered still ranking ECU after the loss to temple ...if he actually meant it and didnt just say that to appease the media, maybe things arent so bad, but if they consider us the same as the MWC we are in serious trouble, what we considered an improvement from the BCS might actually be 10 times worse...

I don't think that Colorado State can be ranked until Boise State losses another game. I don't think that Marshall can be ranked unless Colorado State losses another game, because ranking Marshall would defeat the whole notion of strength of schedule. I don't think that Boise State will be ranked at any point, because they are not good.

I'm in agreement. CSU should be ranked. Marshall is going to be the example that teams need to schedule and schedule hard. Kinda makes a catch-22 though.

The rankings aren't priority based. Colorado State being ranked has nothing to do with Boise ranking or lack thereof.

I'm very surprised that CSU is not being ranked. But here it's a question that if I was a MWC person I would be very concerned about.

In the first poll ECU with one loss and wins over UNC and VTech WAS ranked

Does that mean the AAC carries a bigger pull in the committees eyes?

RE: Rankings
Minnesota being ranked is a joke. Their best win is Middle Tennessee. They are about to get spanked by Nebraska and Wisconsin to finish out 7-5. I don't know if they deserve to be ahead of anyone else in the CFP rankings, but 25th would be appropriate.

That's what I was thinking. I think this says more about what the committee thinks about the AAC. We have to win more ooc or that will change

No. It means the Committee thought that CSU's loss to Boise State was worse than ECU's loss to South Carolina.

This sucks. No G5 team in the Top 25? I am starting to feel like the fix is in.

Boise schedule is pretty decent actually for their 8 and 2 record. They've only played 3 teams with losing records. I'm guessing not many FBS schools in total can boast that.

The combined records of opponents Ole Miss, CSU, and AF is 25 and 5. True they only won one of those games but the competition is top notch, record-wise.

If Boise can finish off 8 and 3 Utah State and win the championship games against Nevada, plus their previous reputation, I think they'll be Access Bowl bound.

I think that it is in this case. Otherwise Colorado State would be ranked.

Boise is barely beating bad teams. Take a look at their last 2 wins. Boise got stomped by an AFA team and AFA schedule has been real soft.

I think that the aac actually is carrying more cred than the other g5's and they are not ranking any of us while they wait for things to break our way if possible. By not committing to any particular team it leaves the door open to choose a 3 lose American team if they want. I think Marshall is a no go no matter what but they may be hoping the mwc teams tat each other up enough to justify a 3 lose memphis or ucf or cincy.

RE: Rankings
If Marshall wins out and CSU does too, then its a coin toss but will probably go to CSU. There is no way a 3 loss AAC team beats out a 1 loss CSU or an undefeated Marshall.

I do still tend to believe that LaTech will beat Marshall and I dont see any team left on CSUs schedule that would keep them from winning out. What the AAC needs is for Air Force to beat CSU, which would make Boise St the division champs. They would then play Nevada for the championship. If by a miracle Nevada wins or keeps it SUPER close, then a 3 loss AAC might get the nod. At that point we need Memphis to be the AAC champ because 2 of their losses are the "best losses". Cinci is semi close but if you look at rankings of the losses, UCLA and Ole Miss look pretty good in the eyes of the committee and their only other loss was by 4 points.

Alot has to happen for the AAC to get a shot. I tend to think CSU will get the bowl. My best guess is that they end the season at 11-1 with the better SOS between them and Marshall.

I don't know, in the 4th quarter of those games they outscored the opponents 40 to 6 to win by an average of 10 points in those games. Ten point wins while wearing down the opponents is a sign of a good team to me. Averaging over 40 point s a game in their wins is impressive as well.

We are talking about for the access bowl aren't we? We're not talking about comparing them to Alabama or FSU are we? I thought they were competing against Marshall, CSU, and NIU (perhaps) for the Access bowl.

Why should they bother to rank non-paid5 programs. It's not like they're going to let us participate in the Playoffs or anything like that. 07-coffee3

Their last 2 opponents were New Mexico and San Diego State. Those two schools are a combined 8-12. Yes we are talking about the access bowl and Boise is not that good. Colorado State's lone loss is keeping them unranked. It sounds like you are confused as to what they are ranking. They are ranking the top 25 programs. My contention based upon body of work is that Colorado State is one of the top 25 programs, but Boise State is not.

CSU's resume isn't stellar either. It's hard to put a team that was losing 37 to 10 into the 4th quarter over another team. Sure the two losses don't help Boise but neither does getting blown out by the very same team they claim to be better then.

They have beaten a grand total of 3 teams with a winning record. Heck, they have only played FOUR team with a winning record. At least Boise has played FIVE teams with a winning record. They barely beating 3 and 7 San Jose State two games ago doesn't help. Their last 3 opponents are a not so grand 10 and 21.

No, it's easy to see why they are not ranked in the top 25 while beating just ONE team with a record better then 6 and 4.

The bottom line is that none of the P5 teams have resumes strong enough for the top 25.
