Coaches Poll has JMU as #23!

Great job by the Lady Dukes this week. I wonder if we've ever been ranked this early in the season. Anyone know? A couple wins this week could pull us into the top 20 in the coaches poll (and top 25 in the AP).

Apparently WBB coaches are generally wiser than most FCS football coaches. Congrats.

Yea seriously... this program continues to be a rock for JMU athletics. Definitely a positive item just on its own, but also huge to have a slew of other successful programs when looking to move conferences...

and sorry for bringing that into this thread but still.

I'm pretty sure 25 - 30 years ago we were. But someone else will have to confirm those days. I didn't follow them, I just remember constantly seeing them ranked in the newspaper.

I'm pretty sure 25 - 30 years ago we were. But someone else will have to confirm those days. I didn't follow them, I just remember constantly seeing them ranked in the newspaper.

My guess is the mid-teens...

No I think the point was that they actually had it right for Women's BB (unlike other sports).

I could be completely off here, but there was a year that for a brief moment the Lady's were ranked top ten (8) I believe.

There were a lot fewer D 1 WBB programs in the 80's. A lot of today's programs were D 2 or 3 or nonexistent back then.

Only slightly, if at all. It was more a matter of the power conferences not putting the kind of emphasis and funding into their WBB programs.
