Former WH Official: Gruber Was ‘The Man’ Helping Put Obamacare Together
How dare you contradict the One?
Quote: Former Obama administration official Steve Rattner said Jonathan Gruber was “the man” putting together Obamacare, contradicting President Obama’s statement that Gruber was merely “some advisor who never worked on our staff.”
“If you go back and look at the Washington Post or the New York Times or anything from that period, you will find Jonathan Gruber’s name all over it,” Rattner said. “Someone who’s a leading expert on health care, quoted by everybody, as someone who the White House was using.”
Rattner told Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski that the administration’s response to Gruber’s statements do not line up with the reality of his central role in designing the unpopular health care law.
“I remember that when I was in the White House he was certainly viewed as an important figure in helping to put Obamacare together,” Rattner. “The problem is not that Gruber helped them put Obamacare together, because he was the man, the problem is what he’s said in the last two weeks and how the White House has handled it.”

@ Tom - Gruber needs to be mentioned though, he called out obamacare and after being tight with Pelosi & co., they all denied knowing him afterwards. Why shouldn't Fox mention his name? I mean, shiit dude, that's their job. Everybody else is afraid to do what they're doing. They don't want to be insulted.

Agree with this. Obviously he was involved at a level at which the White House and Democrats in power in congress didn't want to admit. Whether everything he says is accurate is in question, but no doubt that he has more credibility than them right now since they have been caught lying about knowing him.

The videos say it all. The lack of reporting but the MSM and others say much also.
I've heard about Gruber on MSNBC, Facebook, TPM, Huffington Post, The Daily Show. Keep up the meme though dude.
The fact that the President and his minions purposefully lied to the American public and knew it was a lie SHOULD be the lead story by every media outlet day after day.
The fact it's not, all but shows that large segments of the "4th estate" are all but complicit in pushing Obama's agenda. If they aren't willing to take the administration to task over a pretty significant breach of public trust, they're no better that TASS was during the reign of the Soviet Union.

Where did I defend Gruber? I didn't. I don't know him at all...and know little about what he actually did with the ACA construction.
But take it from someone who does know him. Someone who has paid attention to the ACA debate since Day 1.
Or...keep believing that Sean Hannity, et. al. have Americans best interests at heart.
Quote:Like my counterparts, I have relied heavily on Gruber’s expertise over the years and have come to know him very well. He’s served as an explainer of basic economic concepts, he’s delivered data at my request, and he’s even published articles here at the New Republic. My feelings about Gruber, in other words, are not that of a distant observer. They are, for better or worse, the views of somebody who holds him and his work in high esteem.
But that familiarity—along with my knowledge of how the Affordable Care Act came to become law—also gives me some perspective on the two key questions his statements have raised. Do Gruber’s comments about the “stupidity of the American voter” reflect the thinking that went into the Affordable Care Act? Do Gruber’s comments about lack of “transparency” and “contorted” policy construction validate long-held conservative beliefs that Obamacare is illegitimate—that its architects defied the conventions of politics and promoted the law based on false pretenses?
I believe the answers to both set of questions are no, although I also think those of us who write and think about health policy have something to learn from this whole episode.
