Major Bust. Could have been a good player if he had stuck it out at UC and continued to develop at the 4. Someone close to him gave him horrible advice. What's sad is that advice ruins his life while it has zero effect on the moron who was giving it.

Honest question: so the story about his dad being sick and Jermaine wanting to be closer to home was cover for something else? Can you fill in the details?

The reason to be sad is not that he was a bust as a player but that he lost the opportunity to us his "scholar"ship to get educated. If he was on his way to being a contributing member of society by becoming a teacher or chemist or accountant, a nurse, etc. being a bust as a player would be no big deal.

I always heard it was more about him getting advice from someone (handler?) that he needed to go somewhere where they would allow him to play the 3.

Play the 3.
Smoke the green.

I can see how that might have been misheard.
