I just hate EMU sour grapes. If you don't like that a rival is kicking your tail, don't be jealous, do something about it.

This argument that it's tougher to make it to the NBA from the MAC is total BS! Like someone else posted, if you can play, they will find you from anywhere in the freakin' world. Uh sorry Damian Lillard, you went to Weber State, we're not interested...how stupid.

Fact: WMU is killing us in recruiting and probably always will. Deal with it and find a way to beat them where it counts: on the court and field.

Ray Lee was a Rivals 150 recruit with better offers than Dugan had. Granted, the circumstances were a bit different for Lee (we were definitely his fallback after he screwed up in high school), but still, I'd say that's a high profile recruit. It's starting to show on the court too.

This is an EMU forum. If any of us wanted to talk about WMU recruiting, we could go to the WMU forum. Sounds like you're a big fan, maybe you should check it out.

I think Jodan Price was perhaps a top 150 recruit although he hasn't shown it so far this year. The fact is that WMU has (according to the recruiting scribes and gurus) outrecruited EMU in football and basketball for years going back to the Cubit era in football and basketball. Yes what does matter is that you beat them on the field and on the court. I expect our EMU-WMU hoops contests to be a repeat of last years close contests. Those trying to find fault with EMU athletics and academics will need to find something else to point fingers at.

I agree. It's really simple. There's no bragging necessary in sports, all you have to do is point at the scoreboard ar the end of the game. Hopefully, through winning our HS recruiting gets better and one day we can land a Dugan caliber player of our own.

Price was a DePaul recruit. We have long been a second chance school and home for diamonds in the rough.

RE WMU academics but EMU won the Cartwright Award an wonderful achievement.

EMU hoops has made great academic progress from the trainwreck Jim Boone left it. Ramsey inherited a raw deal including scholarship restrictions. To Ramsey's credit he left it much better for Murphy.

Why I love these forums. Not.

Ramsey, Boone, Cartwright Award...

So much superfluous chatter.

Dugan decided to stay home. His high school is a 20 minute drive from Kalamazoo.

It was NEVER about EMU. It would have been the home town school or maybe a big conference team.

I give him credit. WMU is a quality program and a kid passed up a chance to go 'higher' and try to be the 'big fish' in the smaller pond.

This is what MAC basketball is all about. Theron Wilson turned down Iowa and ended up beating Duke in the 1996 NCAA tourney.

My points were directed more to Johnny what's his name.

Those "2nd chances" sure looked overmatched against Oakland's foundation, didn't they? Funny that those were a lot of guys we offered. Felder, Hayes, and even Williams was right in our back yard (he was a Ramsey offer). We tried to get Tommie McCune to transfer here as well. I guess our fall back options were Karrington Ward and Mike Talley. Darn.

Off topic, but something about Jalen Hayes reminded me of a young Brandon Bowdry. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

We're O/T for BroncoBall and BroncoJohnny, but Oakland was pretty savvy getting Saddi Washington on their staff.

Fmr. WMU player and also fmr. Lansing Sexton player.

Knows how to 'go home' and bring the recruits back with him to Oakland.

He is worth his weight in gold (I think that means Oakland should pay him more then what he is getting paid.)

WMU's get of Dugan reminds me of their get of David Kool.

They get the good ones who want to stay close to home.

Chance Stewart (QB) from Sturgis is a football example.

David Kool, Mr. Basketball. Can you imagine if we ever got one of those?
