UTEP-Arizona Dec 19 in hoops and possible UTEP in New Mexico Bowl Dec 20.
the most likely bowl that UTEP might go to will be the New Mexico bowl on saturday December 20th at noon. UTEP plays Arizona friday December 19th at 9pm in El Paso. I am planning on going to both but it sure sucks that both will be 13 hours apart from the end of the Arizona game to kickoff. With albuquerque being 3 and a half hours away, how many of you are planning on doing both if we do go to the New Mexico bowl. Im in.

I traveled to ABQ for the New Mexico bowl last time (I froze at the game). And drove back for the TX Tech-UTEP basketball game that same night.
AND that was TX Tech!
For Arizona, I'll stay, and drive up to ABQ in the morn.

I will be there for both. I live about a 5 minute walk from the Haskins Center so I will be able to be to get 6 hours of sleep before the drive to Albuquerque. I have made the last three bowl games and will make this one too. I kind of hope we don't get the HOD game because I don't think I could get to Dallas by noon the day after Christmas.

Good point. I still think we could get snubbed if we end up6-6

RE: UTEP-Arizona Dec 19 in hoops and possible UTEP in New Mexico Bowl Dec 20.
I don't think it's mathematically possible for us to get snubbed. We have four teams eligible (Marshall, UTEP, Rice, and La Tech) and 5 or 6 slots left. We have 4 teams at 5-5 (ODU, Middle, UAB, and WKU). 3 of those teams likely can only get to 6-6. UAB and WKU play Marshall in the last 2 weeks and ODU plays La Tech. Also, of those 4, 3 have wins over FCS competition (UAB, ODU, and Middle). If I'm not mistaken, 6-6 teams with 6 wins over FBS competition get preference over 6-6 teams with an FCS win included. UTEP would therefore get in before those teams if everyone is 6-6.
OK, it's not mathematically impossible. It would get a little tense if Marshall Coogs it down the stretch and/or Middle gets to 7-5. And, of course, it all become academic if UTEP can beat either Rice or Middle.

I'm not going to pack my bags until UTEP is 7-5.
I can't help but think how UTEP went 6-6 last time to the New Mexico Bowl and stunk up the place.
I now we took a lot of fans but I'm sure that will be a consideration as well when ALBQ. chooses.

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION
What Fitbud is trying to get across is that UTEP played in the New Mexico Bowl several years and did not do very well. It is very important to Fitbud that everyone knows that. So please, please be aware that BYU took it to us at the New Mexico. Thank you for your cooperation.
Also, if you weren't already sure about Fitbud's level of credibility, he is also implying that the New Mexico Bowl, yes the New Mexico Bowl, cares more about on field performance than ticket sales and money generated.
Fitbud and I thank you for your time spent reading this.

We're going to the New Mexico bowl. Whether we're 6-6 or 8-4. I guarantee it.

New Mexico was also our most hated rival for many years. Lots of people in ALBQ. Don't like us. If you think that can't have an effect on a football game and ticket sales, just ask El paso what would happen if we get USC in the sun bowl.

When we went to the NM bowl it was the 2nd highest attended game... So I don't see how being a rival with UNM will "effect" anything...

You beat me to it. I don't think the post "effected" me, until I read they don't like "us" PAC12 fans.

So the point is a former rival wouldn't do well in Albuquerque? Your previous point was that UTEP wouldn't be welcomed by the New Mexico Bowl because we underperformed. Is that still your point or is your point that the New Mexico Bowl might not welcome UTEP because UTEP was a former rival of UNM almost 20 years ago?

How does one ask 'El Paso?' Besides, your point was about a former rival playing in a town. USC is not a former UTEP rival. You are trying to connect dots that are not connected. You are trying to force a square peg down a triangle hole. USC is a big name PAC12 school that would sell a lot of tickets in El Paso.
Typical fitbud. Maybe local radio can make sense out of your senseless post.
