It's not that you don't have Marshall in your top 25, but what did they do this week to drop out? Also, how is WVU 17th after their loss to Texas followed by an off week? Also, GT, LSU, TAMU, and Florida all lost this week. Was this a mis-post or do you think these teams still deserve to be ranked where they are despite losing this week?

Here's mine:

1 Alabama
2 Oregon
3 Florida St
4 TCU
5 Mississippi St

6 Baylor
7 Ohio St
8 Kansas St
9 Mississippi
10 Michigan St

11 UCLA
12 Georgia
13 Arizona
14 Missouri
15 Wisconsin

16 Marshall
17 Arizona St
18 Auburn
19 Georgia Tech
20 Nebraska

21 Oklahoma
22 Colorado St
23 Utah
24 Boise St

**It gets really hard to rank teams after Auburn. Everybody the rest of the way doesn't really have a real quality win and most have at least one really questionable loss.

I believe that the CFP committee will make conference championships one of its highest criteria. So far, they have not been able to factor that into their rankings because conference standings have been too murky. I believe they are now at a point where they can essentially set up "elimination games".

Unless chaos ensues (and if it can, it probably will), I think the top nine teams are still in contention for a playoff spot. One from the ACC, and two each from the four other P5 conferences. I believe the committee has conceded the ACC spot, if there is to be one, to Florida State. I don't think any other ACC team could climb that high even by beating the Noles.

Though they say they don't rate conferences, I think they would (at least subconsciously) value an SEC champ over the PAC 12 champ if they have the same number of losses (criterion #2). It looks to me like their conference pecking order is SEC, PAC 12, Big 12, B!G, and ACC.

They may wait until the bitter end before inserting a G5 school into their top 25, but it is getting harder IMO for them to ignore an unbeaten Marshall, even if they don't think they are the best G5 team. It would be uncomfortable for them, IMO, to rank Colorado State ahead of Marshall after Week 15 if the Rams go 11-1 but don't win their conference title. I think they would want whoever gets the access bowl slot to be the highest ranked G5 team, not just champion.

Why Nebraska so high?

If you are looking at Nebraska's schedule, their only loss was by five to a pretty good Michigan State team. They don't have any showcase wins, but all of their wins, except McNeese State, have been by double digits. With Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa up next and a possible CCG, they will have opportunities to prove themselves. It may not be a strong schedule, but they have handled their business pretty well.

Agreed. The Wisconsin game will determine if they are legit.

Nebraska was not legit.

And neither ws Clemson

Like I said, it was hard to find schools to place after Auburn. Nebraska twice made more sense than Duke lol. Fixed.

I'd put Miss State ahead of TCU but I'd keep Herd's numbers.

Miss State had two big wins. Both have been weakened by the losses of both teams. The Aggies have dropped out of the standings again and Auburn is going to take a big dip after Georgia's defense shut them down.

Miss State's perceived strength that they had going for them all year is now eroding. Keeping them in the top four still is purely an SEC fan move and that is ok, but that is just keeping it real.

I forgot FSU somehow so after putting them in MSU falls out. In fact, I had trouble deciding who I'd put in the 5 spot between MSU and Baylor. Lastly, I'm by no stretch of the imagination an SEC fan. I'm rooting for Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl and Auburn in the Iron Bowl to keep the SEC out of the championship altogether. It might take more than that, but at that point, the 8 team playoff timetable moves up considerably.

RE: Week 12. How do you rank them this week?
While this isn't necessarily how I would rank them, here's how I think the committee might rank them this week

1. Oregon (9-1)
2. Alabama (9-1)
3. Florida State (10-0)
4. Mississippi State (9-1)
5. Baylor (8-1)
6. TCU (9-1)
7. Ohio State (9-1)
8. Ole Miss (8-2)
9. UCLA (8-2)
10. Michigan State (8-2)

After #10, I think it's anybody's guess, and frankly, it doesn't matter much. There are two teams on this list from the PAC 12, Big 12 and B1G, plus three from the SEC and only one from the ACC.

None of the above had a bad loss this week, but there were a few not so good wins. I think TCU may have given the committee an excuse for jumping Baylor ahead of them by squeaking by woeful Kansas. Ohio State may not have been all that impressive beating Minnesota, but at least the Gophers were ranked at the time, and it's not like many teams below them were all that impressive either.

UCLA gets its nod thanks to the Sun Devils screwing the pooch in Corvallis. They are one of five teams that move up in the rankings because they were idle this week. Next week it's their turn in the barrel.

Only an SEC guy could turn a comment about TCU into being one that must absolutely be an anti-SEC statement. It is a statement about TCU and not just what I have seen, it is about what others have seen...including a majority of the Committee members.

But hey, you go right ahead continuing to propogate that Southern victim mentality of yours.

I do not believe Marshall could beat GT, LSU, TAMU, or Florida.

But they could last week?

This is the quandry of trying to rank teams that do not play each other. Looking at the teams and how they size up with each other at this point in the season, I do not believe Marshall would win a matchup with Georgia Tech offense. Marshall's offensive would be throttled down against LSU and Florida. It would probably be a shootout against Texas A&M and I give the defensive edge to TAMU over Marshall.

Do you believe that Marshall could beat any of these four teams?
