RE: Game Thread: UAB vs Young Harris
-I talked to HaHa briefly after the game. He said he'll be playing this Thursday. I'm excited.
-What's going on with Watts? I expected him to contribute a little bit more. Seems like he almost played better last year.
-Chris Cokley is a badass. So far he is my favorite freshman.
-Robert Brown SHUT DOWN #10 in the second half. I think he scored no points in the entire second half.

I was able to listen to it online but it seems to auto timeout after a few minutes for some reason so you have to hit the reload button to reestablish the radio feed

If HaHa plays Thursday I'll be very surprised, wrong, and pleased.
I will say this about the young man, I was very impressed with his enthusiasm from the bench tonight for his teammates.

THIS
He seems to have a good heart. I hope his introduction of play is dynamic for this team. From what I've seen, it's hard to imagine he will be more impactful than Cokley. Chris has the body and the game. I sincerely hope that Lee shocks me.

I was surprised by his answer too...but that's what the man said. Just sharing what I heard with you guys. It's entirely possible that Hasse has different plans for him.

You would have to be so drunk you're seeing triple to say 1,500. I counted the upper half after tip and it was 182.
There were not 500 in the stands when I left the game.
2 game I have attended and we haven't cracked 1,000 on either. Sad.
I wasn't drunk, but I did have some cold medicine before the game.
The official attendance was 2,071. I underestimated.

RE: Game Thread: UAB vs Young Harris
I really like Norton's game. He has the potential to be an AJ, but with a legit three-point shot. Cokley has good touch around the basket, but I think he's a year in the weight room away before he's a consistent double-double.
Looks like Sullivan and Calhoun may be the guys to fall out of the rotation when we approach conference play, and especially when Lee makes his debut.
The offense looked better today in regards to ball movement, but I still think we stand around too much. However, we did make quick cuts at times for easy lay-ups.
Our offense's biggest weakness is our lack of aggression on the wings. As an indication of our passive attack, our starting guards attempted zero free-throws. If it weren't already apparent, we're going to struggle scoring when the offensive set breaks down. Seems like Baxter tries to push the issue at times, but he's not really taking anyone off the dribble.
All in all, we played much better and beat a team that we're supposed to beat. We still have a long way to go, but I'm hopeful.

Interesting how bball official attendance looked high tonight and la tech football official attendance was low. I drove in from out of state to attend la tech and ive seen football crowds half that size announced as 8500.

RE: Game Thread: UAB vs Young Harris
I'm excited about the future for Norton. He has looked solid to me, he just can't create his own shot yet, and is minus defender at the moment. These are all things we are going to have to deal with for a year while our guys learn.
Cokley is solid. I kept mentioning in the offseason because he was overlooked by everybody. I think people are finally taking notice.
Sullivan is our most aggressive player in my opinion. He has the skill set to get the ball to the basket, he just has to learn how to do it at this level. I don't think he will see big minutes this year, but I think he will get some minutes most nights.
Calhoun isn't ready. I love everything he has done for us, he just needs a year.
I am guessing our rotation will trim down to cj, brown, Baxter, Norton, Mehinti, cokley, Madison, and lee; with a little bit of Sullivan and Calhoun mixed in from time to time.
Hopefully we continue to improve as the season goes on. We have some good players, our execution just isn't great yet.

RE: Game Thread: UAB vs Young Harris
First of I know it was Young Harris. Second, I know it was young Harris. and third, I know it was Young Harris. But...
there were glimpses of how good the freshmen can be. They seemed much more comfortable than before. The're still trying to do things they got away with in high school - not closing out on 3pt shooters, not boxing out, too many layups, defensive lapses, too much standing around on offense, etc), but you could tell that once the light turns on fully these guys will be pretty good.
Norton - smart, steady player that doesn't rush himself, stays calm, and deadly shooter. Really good feel for the game. Kinda shows he's a coach's son.
Sullivan - much better athlete than he looks with knee braces on both knees. Good feel for the game. Good at positioning himself to be in the right place at the right time. Plays inside and outside.
Cokley - very impressive. Physical player who is explosive around the basket.
Calhoun - known as a shooter but is very quick to the basket. Willing passer. Needs time in the weight room as he gets bumped around a lot, especially on defense.

You are right, hopefully he is actually 100%
Someone in the program told me earlier this week that he was very close but wouldn't be 100% until another week or so. Hopefully he doesn't aggravate the injury.
