Here's a bit of trivia that doesn't have anything to do with Justin Hardy, but it does have to do with a poster on this board.
In Fred Belitnikoff's best year as a receiver in college, he finished second in number of pass receptions. The receiver that finished first has a son that posts fairly regularly on this board.

Holy hell, 135 receptions in the mid-60's...that's ludicrous!

Your QB has attempted 420 passes...the fact that all but one of those finalists plays in offenses that don't pass the ball at even 80% of that rate makes it why they're in there and not Hardy. Hell, after the game he had against us, I think every Bearcat fan would argue for his inclusion, but I don't think it's a massive snub. It doesn't truly matter though, because it is Amari Cooper's award to lose this year thanks to massive voter bias towards the SEC.
I doubt there are any stats on this, but I would bet Hardy is in the lowest five of percentage of balls dropped. For balls he had a legitimate chance on, because he gets to some balls that most don't.
I don't doubt that one bit, I'm just telling you the voters know that he's getting similar stats in an offense that throws anywhere from 60-170 more passes than the other candidates' depending on whom. The only offense that throws at ECU's rate and has a candidate in the running is Colorado's. I agree with you all that he's a worthy candidate, but I can't be up in arms about it.
Remember when Michael Crabtree won it twice in an offense that passes more, yeah.
Remember when he was 10000% the best receiver in the country each of those years without question? Yeah.
Unh unh only because he got the ball thrown at him so much
