UAB vs Marshall game week thread
UAB comes in at 5-5. Just one game shy of being bowl eligble.

Marshall comes in at 10-0. Rolling like a wagon wheel, but can UAB be the team to upset them?

Odds makers have UAB as a 20 point dog.

We always have a chance. We CANNOT turn the ball over though. This will nore than likely be a shootout.

That sounds about right (the line). Of course I always say that. 03-razz

The scary thing is that they have been beating the spread!

There is NO REASON for us to do anything other than leave it all on the field Saturday. I will not be able to talk for a week and so thereby plan to 'leave it all in the stands'.

It's going to take four quarters of ball to beat this team--a team which is playing with enough confidence to move a mountain.

We have weapons. We will need to use them--all of them!

You eat a buffalo (or herd of them) like you eat an elephant--one bite at a time. But this is a meal we'll have to finish. Because like at that famous roadhouse steakhouse in Amarillo on I-40 if you don't finish you have to pay.

I just want them to clear their heads of all the external noise, relax and play ball.

It's a fun game, fellas. You know how to play. Go play.

We have to get he ball in JJ's hands more. Wildcat, sweeps, reverses, not screens...what ever. He needs 2x as many touches as he has been getting, or more. Also, we need to get DJ more carries. I say this, because I think Jordan was gassed at MTSU and against LA Tech. Of course he still gets yards in chunks, but I worry about him getting hurt while fatigued.

I like to think...If, IF, we pull this off, we get a Bowl bid with just 6 wins. If, IF, we pull this off we definitely get a bowl bid!!!

I'll be there rooting the team on. If weather permits the entire rookery will be there. If not hen I'll be bringing 3 other people.

This is one of those games that on paper we have absolutely no chance of winning- but I know in the past these are the games that we come up big in and win. Anyone remember when ECU came in in the top 20, was really good and UAB won? I know I do. Can it happen? Maybe. Will it happen? Who knows- but wouldn't it be great timing to win this one then go on the road and beat USM? How coud the BOT shut down a football team that is 7-5 and on their way to a bowl game?

A win over Marshall will put the national spotlight on UAB's UA- BOT problem and the current threat, real or imagined, to the UAB football program!

Kind of hard for the team & coaches to stay focused when you have Jason stabbing you in the back.

Keep the ball out of their hands, dominate the time of possession, and control the line of scrimmage. If we can get lucky by forcing a couple of turn-overs along with just an overall strong defensive performance, we have a chance. I suspect Marshall may be looking over this game, big time.

The players and younger fans might, but the older fans seem to know that Legion Field can be a trap for Marshall.

I agree that you have a chance, but i dont think it will be a shoot out. No one has scored more than 24 pts on us and 7 of those were garbage time. Our defense is playing lights out and has been consistent all season. If you win, youll have to keep us under 20 pts to have a shot.

Im nervous as hell this week.

I think for us to win we'll need to make it weird up in here. You can play your part by starting the game with a reverse in your own end zone. 03-wink

Exactly. Hoping the Blazers throw everything including the kitchen sink at the herd and pull the upset -it'll definitely put the spotlight on everything.
